Industrial producer prices fell y-o-y for the tenth month in a row

“Industrial producer prices fell year-on-year for the tenth month, this time by 1.3%. On the other hand, prices of agricultural producers increased by 1.2% year-on-year, this is the lowest growth since September 2024. Construction work prices were higher by 0.1% year-on-year and service producer prices in the business sphere by 4.3%,” noted Vladimir Klimes, head of Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of CZSO.
Agricultural producer prices fell by 4.0% m-o-m. The decrease was recorded for prices of fruit (-9.5%), potatoes (-8.2%), pigs for slaughter (‑6.1%), fresh vegetables (-4.4%), cereals (-0.6%) and milk (-0.3%). Rising were prices of eggs (+12.4%) and poultry (+2.1%). Y‑o‑y, agricultural producer prices grew by 1.2% (+3.2% in October). In crop production, prices went down by 6.8%. Prices were lower for potatoes (-24.7%), fruit (-21.2%), fresh vegetables (-18.8%), cereals (‑6.5%) and oilseeds (-3.1%). In animal production, prices went up by 13.8%. Prices increased for cattle for slaughter (+39.0%), eggs (+36.6%), poultry (+14.5%) and milk (+12.1%). Decrease occurred in prices of pigs for slaughter (‑14.1%).
Prices of industrial producers increased by 0.3% m-o-m. Prices rose especially in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Prices went up in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (+0.8%) and ‘wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (+1.1%). On the decrease were prices in ‘food products’ (-0.8%), thereof ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (-1.4%) and ‘dairy products’ (-1.6%). Higher were prices in ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (+0.6%). Prices went down in ‘basic metals’ (-0.7%). Prices fell in ‘motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers’ and ‘rubber and plastics products’ (-0.3% both). Prices of industrial producers fell by 1.3% y-o-y (-1.2% in October). Prices went down in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (-3.2%), ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-8.4%) and ‘motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers’ (-2.5%). On the increase were prices in ‘repair and installation services of machinery and equipment’ (+3.8%) and ‘wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (+7.7%). Prices increased in ‘food products’ (+1.2%), thereof ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+1.7%) and ‘bakery and farinaceous products’ (+2.0%), lower were prices in ‘dairy products’ (-0.1%). Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘energy’ (-3.5%) and ‘intermediate goods’ (-1.2%) went down y‑o‑y, prices of ‘durable consumer goods’ (+2.4%) and ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (+0.9%) went up. Prices of industrial producers excluding energy were lower by 0.5% (-0.2% in October).
Construction work prices, as estimated, and prices of materials and products used in construction were higher by 0.1% m-o-m. According to the estimate, construction work prices rose by 3.2% y‑o‑y (same as in October). Prices of materials and products used in the construction went up by 1.1% y-o-y (+0.9% in October).
Service producer prices in the business sphere decreased by 0.1% m-o-m. Falling were prices for ‘motion picture, video and television programme production services, sound recording and music publishing’ (-4.4%), ‘services of head offices; management consulting services’ (-0.6%), ‘employment services’ and ‘information services’ (-0.2% both). Prices of ‘legal and accounting services’ rose (+0.2%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services decreased by 0.1%. Service producer prices in the business sphere grew by 4.3% y‑o‑y (same as in October). Rising were prices of ‘advertising and market research services’ (+17.7%), ‘programming and broadcasting services’ (+16.0%) and ‘employment services’ (+9.3%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services, increased by 3.1% (+3.2% in October).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – October 2025 (preliminary data)
According to the Eurostat News Releases, industrial producer prices rose in October by 0.1% in EU27 (in September they decreased by 0.1%), m-o-m. The highest increases were recorded in Bulgaria (+4.6%), Ireland (+1.4%) and Estonia (+1.3%). Prices went up in Germany and Austria (+0.2% both). The largest decreases were observed in Slovakia (-1.0%), Poland (-0.5%), Italy
(-0.4%) and Czechia (-0.1%). Industrial producer prices went down in October by 0.2% (in September they went up by 0.1%) in EU27, y-o-y. The largest decreases were recorded in Luxembourg (-5.6%) and Ireland (-3.6%). Prices went down in Austria (-2.6%), Poland (-1.8%), Germany (-1.6%) and Czechia (-1.2%) and went up in Slovakia (+1.2%). The highest increases were observed in Bulgaria (+17.6%), Romania (+9.4%) and Sweden (+4.9%).

Except for the construction work price indices, the published figures are final data. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carried out on the 9th calendar day of the following month. Then, construction work price indices are updated using results of the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 46th calendar day of the following quarter.
