Agricultural producer prices rose significantly y-o-y

“Prices of industrial producers have been falling for three months in a row, both month-on-month and year-on-year. They fell by 0.8% month-on-month and by 1.3 % year-on-year. On the other hand, prices of other producers continued in their year-on-year growth. Prices in agriculture accelerated their year-on-year increase to 15.7%. Construction work prices were higher by 3.6% year-on-year and service producer prices in the business sphere by 4.0%,” noted Vladimir Klimes, head of Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of CZSO.
Agricultural producer prices increased by 3.2% m-o-m. Rising were prices of eggs (+12.1%), cattle for slaughter (+4.6%), pigs for slaughter (+3.1%), cereals (+1.3%) and milk (+1.1%). The decrease was recorded for prices of potatoes (-4.0%), oilseeds (-0.8%) and poultry (-0.5%). Y‑o‑y, agricultural producer prices grew by 15.7% (+8.2% in March). In crop production, prices went up by 17.3%. Higher were prices of fruit (+38.5%), oilseeds (+25.4%), cereals (+14.9%) and fresh vegetables (+14.4%), while prices of potatoes fell (-4.9%). In animal production, prices went up by 14.4%. Prices increased for eggs (+42.5%), cattle for slaughter (+25.8%), milk (+19.6%) and poultry (+4.3%). Decrease occurred in prices of pigs for slaughter (‑14.1%).
Prices of industrial producers fell by 0.8% m-o-m. Prices went down in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Lower were prices in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (-3.0%) and ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-2.7%). Prices rose in ‘food products’ (+0.7%), particularly in ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+2.1%) and ‘processed and preserved fruit and vegetables’ (+2.3%). Lower were prices in ‘grain mill products, starches and starch products’ (-0.5%) and vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (-0.4%). Prices rose in ‘rubber and plastic products’ (+1.3%) and ‘wood and of products of wood and cork’ (+2.1%). Prices of industrial producers decreased by 1.3% y-o-y (-0.3% in March). Prices were lower particularly in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. On the decrease were prices in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (-2.9%), ‘chemical and chemical products’ (-7.1%) and ‘coal and lignite’ (-10.6%). Prices rose in ‘food products’ (+2.7%), especially in ‘dairy products’ (+11.7%), prices went down in ‘other food products’ (-3.1%). Prices grew in ‘repair and installation services of machinery and equipment’ (+3.5%) and ‘wood and of products of wood and cork’ (+4.3%). Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘energy’ (-5.9%) and ‘intermediate goods’ (-0.5%) went down y-o-y, prices of ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (+1.9%) and ‘capital goods’ (+1.4%) went up. Prices of industrial producers excluding energy were higher by 0.6% (+0.6% also in March).
Construction work prices, as estimated, and prices of materials and products used in construction increased by the same 0.4% m-o-m. According to the estimate, construction work prices rose by 3.6% y‑o‑y (+3.3% in March after updating). Prices of materials and products used in the construction were higher by 0.7% y-o-y (+0.5% in March).
Service producer prices in the business sphere increased by 1.0% m-o-m. Prices went up for ‘programming and broadcasting services’ (+9.8%), ‘advertising and market research services’ (+9.4%) and ‘employment services’ (+3.9%). Falling were prices of 'land transport services' (‑0.5%) and 'motion picture, video and television programme production services, sound recording and music publishing' (-3.2%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services rose by 0.3%. Service producer prices in the business sphere grew by 4.0% y-o‑y (+3.7% in March). Prices rose for ‘programming and broadcasting services’ (+16.4%), ‘advertising and market research services’ (+14.2%), ‘security and investigation services’ (+12.5%), ‘employment services’ (+9.4%) and 'warehousing and support services for transportation' (+6.1%). Prices of 'motion picture, video and television programme production services, sound recording and music publishing' fell (-7.2%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services, increased by 3.2% (+3.6% in March).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – March 2025 (preliminary data)
According to the Eurostat News Releases, industrial producer prices decreased in March by 1.6% in EU27 (in February they rose by 0.4%), m-o-m. The largest decreases were recorded in Estonia (-8.0%), Spain (-3.9%) and Italy (-3.3%). Prices went down in Germany (-0.8%) and Czechia (-0.3%), remained stable in Poland and Slovakia and went up in Austria (+0.2%). The highest increases were observed in Greece (+1.3%), Luxembourg (+0.9%) and Slovenia (+0.6%). Industrial producer prices went up in March by 2.1% (in February they increased by 3.2%) in EU27, y-o-y. The highest increases were recorded in Bulgaria (+22.0%), Ireland (+10.6%) and Denmark (+10.2%). Prices were higher in Slovakia (+2.6%) and Austria (+0.3%) and lower in Poland (-0.4%), Czechia (-0.3%), Germany (-0.2%). The largest decreases were observed in Luxembourg (-4.5%), Portugal (-1.0%), France and Lithuania (-0.6% both).

Except for the construction work price indices, the published figures are final data. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carried out on the 9th calendar day of the following month. Then, construction work price indices are updated using results of the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 46th calendar day of the following quarter.
