Agricultural and industrial producer prices fell again y o-y

“Industrial producer prices fell year-on-year for the twelfth month, this time by 3.0%. Prices of agricultural producers also decreased year-on-year, by 5.8%. Construction work prices were higher by 2.7% year-on-year and service producer prices in the business sphere by 3.6%,” noted Vladimir Klimes, head of Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of CZSO
Agricultural producer prices decreased by 1.6% m-o-m. Falling were prices of potatoes (‑11.7%), milk (-7.6%), pigs for slaughter (‑4.0%), eggs (-3.4%), vegetables (-2.8%) and cereals (-0.9%). Growth was recorded in prices of fruit (+8.6%), cattle for slaughter (+1.5%) and oilseeds (+0.8%). Y‑o‑y, agricultural producer prices decreased by 5.8% (-2.7% in December). In crop production, prices fell by 13.2%. Lower were prices of potatoes (‑29.3%), fruit (-25.9%), vegetables (-24.0%), cereals (-12.6%) and oilseeds (-7.1%). In animal production, prices went up by 2.2%. Prices increased for cattle for slaughter (+36.0%), eggs (+21.2%) and poultry (+10.5%).
Decrease occurred in prices of pigs for slaughter (‑19.0%) and milk (-5.2%).
Prices of industrial producers decreased by 0.7% m-o-m. Prices fell in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (-3.6%) due to the waiver of the fee for supported energy sources. Lower were prices in ‘food products’ (-1.4%), thereof ‘dairy products’ (-4.5%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (-0.9%). Higher were prices in ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (+0.2%). Prices fell especially in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Prices rose in ‘repair and installation services of machinery and equipment’ (+2.2%), ‘natural water; water treatment and supply services’ (+3.9%) and ‘machinery and equipment n.e.c’ (+1.2%). Prices of industrial producers fell by 3.0% y-o-y (-2.1% in December). Prices went down in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (-7.4%). Prices fell considerably in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Prices were lower in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-9.3%) and ‘motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers’ (-2.4%). Prices decreased in ‘food products’ (-1.6%), thereof ‘dairy products’ (-9.4%) and ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (-2.1%). Prices were higher in ‘bakery and farinaceous products’ (+1.4%) and ‘prepared animal feeds’ (+1.0%). On the increase were prices in ‘repair and installation services of machinery and equipment’ (+3.9%) and ‘wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (+9.9%). Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘energy’ (-8.2%), ‘intermediate goods’ (-1.1%) and ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (-0.9%) went down y-o-y. Prices of ‘durable consumer goods’ (+2.5%) went up. Prices of industrial producers excluding energy were lower by 0.8% (-0.3% in December).
Construction work prices, as estimated, increased by 0.3% and prices of materials and products used in construction were higher by 0.7% m-o-m. According to the estimate, construction work prices rose by 2.7% y‑o‑y (+2.8% in December after updating). Prices of materials and products used in the construction were higher by 1.5% y-o-y (+1.6% in December).
Service producer prices in the business sphere decreased by 1.0% m-o-m. Prices went down for ‘programming and broadcasting services’ (-23.2%) and ‘advertising and market research services’ (-21.7%). Rising were prices of ‘motion picture, video and television programme production services, sound recording and music publishing’ (+6.9%), ‘information services’ (+3.6%), ‘postal and courier services’ (+2.8%) and ‘warehousing and support services for transportation’ (+1.3%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services rose by 0.9%. Service producer prices in the business sphere grew by 3.6% y-o‑y (+4.0% in December). Prices rose for and ‘advertising and market research services’ (+17.1%), ‘motion picture, video and television programme production services, sound recording and music publishing’ (+14.6%), ‘programming and broadcasting services’ (+11.9%), and ‘employment services’ (+8.4%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services, increased by 2.7% (+3.0% in December).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – December 2025 (preliminary data)
According to the Eurostat News Releases, industrial producer prices fell in December by 0.4% in EU27 (in November they increased by 0.8%), m-o-m. The largest decreases were recorded in Estonia (-3.0%), Ireland (-2.8%) and Denmark (-1.9%). Prices went down in Austria (-0.5%), Poland (-0.4%), Germany (-0.3%) and Czechia (-0.2%) and went up in Slovakia (+0.3%). The highest increases were observed in Bulgaria (+1.4%), Portugal (+0.5%), Belgium and Romania (both +0.4%). Industrial producer prices went down in December by 1.9% (in November they fell by 1.1%) in EU27, y-o-y. The largest decreases were recorded in Luxembourg (-5.6%), Ireland (-4.9%) and Portugal (-3.7%). Prices fell in Austria (-3.6%), Germany (-2.4%), Czechia and Poland (-2.1% both) and Slovakia (-0.4%). The highest increases were observed in Bulgaria (+9.8%), Romania (+6.6%) and Sweden (+1.3%).

Except for the construction work price indices, the published figures are final data. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carried out on the 9th calendar day of the following month. Then, construction work price indices are updated using results of the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 46th calendar day of the following quarter.
