Y-o-y growth of agricultural producer prices slowed down

“Prices of agricultural producers rose decelerated their year-on-year growth to 7.1%. Construction work prices were higher by 3.0% year-on-year and service producer prices in the business sphere by 4.5%. On the other hand, prices of industrial producers were lower by 1.0% year-on-year,” noted Vladimir Klimes, head of Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of CZSO.
Agricultural producer prices decreased by 1.9% m-o-m. Falling were prices of fresh vegetables (-10.0%), oilseeds (-2.7%), poultry (-2.5%), cereals (-1.6%) and pigs for slaughter (‑0.6%). The increase was recorded for prices of eggs (+1.8%), cattle for slaughter (+1.2%) and milk (+0.9%). Y‑o‑y, agricultural producer prices grew by 7.1% (+11.4% in August). In crop production, prices went down by 0.8%. Prices were lower for fresh vegetables (-16.9%) and potatoes (-18.5%), while prices of fruit (+0.3%) and oilseeds (+4.9%) rose. Prices of cereals remained unchanged y‑o-y. In animal production, prices went up by 19.1%. Prices increased for eggs (+42.8%), cattle for slaughter (+40.9%), milk (+19.7%) and poultry (+12.2%). Decrease occurred in prices of pigs for slaughter (‑4.6%).
Prices of industrial producers decreased by 0.4% m-o-m. Prices went down in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (-1.0%). Lower were prices in ‘motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers’ (-0.5%) and ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-1.3%). Prices were lower in ‘food ‘products’ (-0.4%), thereof ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (-0.7%) and ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (-3.1%). Higher were prices in ‘other food products’ (+0.2%). Prices rose in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Higher were prices in ‘beverages’ (+0.9%) and ‘printing and recording services’ (+1.7%). Prices of industrial producers decreased by 1.0% y-o-y (-0.8% in August). Prices went down particularly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (-3.8%), ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-7.8%) and ‘coal and lignite’ (-10.5%). Prices increased in ‘food products’ (+2.8%), especially in ‘dairy products’ (+7.6%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+4.0%). Prices went down in ‘other food products’ (-4.2%). On the increase were prices in ‘repair and installation services of machinery and equipment’ (+4.0%), ‘other non-metallic mineral products’ (+2.2%) and ‘wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (+5.1%). Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘energy’ (-3.8%) and ‘intermediate goods’ (- 0.7%) went down y-o-y, prices of ‘durable consumer goods’ (+2.9%) and ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (+1.6%) went up. Prices of industrial producers excluding energy were higher by 0.2% (+0.5% in August).
Construction work prices, as estimated, increased by 0.7% and prices of materials and products used in construction were lower by 0.2% m-o-m. According to the estimate, construction work prices rose by 3.0% y‑o‑y (+2.6% in August). Prices of materials and products used in the construction were higher by 1.0% y-o-y (+1.1% in August).
Service producer prices in the business sphere increased by 1.4% m-o-m. Prices went up for ‘advertising and market research services’ (+18.1%), ‘programming and broadcasting services’ (+16.7%), 'employment services' (+1.4%) and 'legal and accounting services' (+0.2%). Falling were prices of 'information services' and 'real estate services' (-0.2% both) and 'land transport services' (‑0.3%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services were unchanged. Service producer prices in the business sphere grew by 4.5% y-o‑y (+4.4% in August). Rising were prices of ‘programming and broadcasting services’ (+20.7%), ‘advertising and market research services’ (+19.7%), ‘security and investigation services’ (+12.0%), 'employment services' (+9.0%), 'warehousing and support services for transportation' (+6.1%) and 'insurance, reinsurance and pension funding services, except compulsory social security' (+5.0%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services, increased by 3.3% (+3.4% in August).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – August 2025 (preliminary data)
According to the Eurostat News Releases, industrial producer prices went down in August by 0.4% in EU27 (in July they rose by 0.6%), m-o-m. The largest decreases were recorded in Denmark (-1.3%), the Netherlands and Romania (-1.0% both). Prices fell in Austria (-0.8%), Poland (-0.7%) and Germany (-0.3%) and remained stable in Czechia. The highest increases were observed in Estonia (+5.4%), Finland (+1.9%) and Slovakia (+1.3%). Industrial producer prices went down in August by 0.4% (in July they increased by 0.4%) in EU27, y-o-y. The largest decreases were recorded in Portugal (-4.3%), Luxembourg (-4.2%) and Estonia (-3.2%). Prices went down in Austria (-2.8%), Germany (-1.9%), Poland (-1.3%) and Czechia (-0.8%) and went up in Slovakia (+0.9%). The highest increases were observed in Bulgaria (+9.1%), Sweden (+4.1%) and Romania (+3.1%).

Except for the construction work price indices, the published figures are final data. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carried out on the 9th calendar day of the following month. Then, construction work price indices are updated using results of the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 46th calendar day of the following quarter.
