Price increase has stopped

In March 2013 compared with the previous month, agricultural producer prices and industrial producer prices stayed unchanged. Market services prices went up 0.1% and construction work prices went down by 0.2%.
In comparison to March 2012, prices of agricultural and industrial producer prices increased by 12.5% and 1.0%, respectively. Prices of construction works were lower by 0.8%, as well as market services prices (-0.3%).
Month-on-month comparison:
Agricultural producer prices in total stayed unchanged. Prices of milk grew (+1.4%), oil plants (+1.6%), potatoes (+1.7%) and vegetables (+1.8%). Prices of eggs fell by 2.9% as well as fruit (−1.8%), poultry (−1.7%) and pigs for slaughter (−0.8%).
Prices of industrial producers remained stable in total. Prices decreased the most significantly in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (-1.7%). Prices increased in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+1.2%) and ‘mining and quarrying’ (+0.5%), thereof ‘crude petroleum’ (+6.7%) and ‘stone, sand and clay’ (+1.5%). Prices went up in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+0.1%), thereof ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (+3.3%).
According to an estimate, construction work went down by 0.2% and construction material input prices went up 0.1%.
Market services prices in the business sphere increased by 0.1%. Prices of advertising and market research services increased by 10.4% but prices of warehousing and support services for transportation (-18.1%), land transport services and transport services via pipelines (-1.2%) fell as well as prices of information services (−2.4%). Market services prices in total excluding advertising services decreased by 0.7%.
Year-on-year comparison:
Agricultural producer prices were higher by 12.5% (+15.6% in March). Prices of crop products grew by 27.0%, primarily increased prices of vegetables (+46.8%), potatoes (+36.7%), cereals (+32.5%) and oil plants (+15.9%). After 25 months of year-on-year growth animal products prices decreased by 1.6%. Prices of eggs decreased (-35.2%) and milk (-3.5%). Prices of poultry grew (+10.9%), prices of cattle for slaughter increased as well (+6.3%). On the increase were also prices of pigs for slaughter (+2.8%).
Industrial producer prices gained 1.0% (+1.3% in February). The growth of price level was the more significantly influenced by the higher prices in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+4.1%), thereof ‘prepared animal feeds’ (+23.1%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+4.8%). Prices went up in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (+3.7%) and ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+3.3%). Prices went down primarily in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (-6.2%). Prices decreased in ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (-1.6%) and ‘mining and quarrying’ (-2.4%).
Among the main industrial groupings prices of ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (+1.9%) increased the most.
According to an estimate, construction work prices were down by 0.8% (-0.7% in February). Construction material input prices were up by 0.6% (like in February).
Market services prices in the business sphere decreased by 0.3% (+0.5% in February). On the decrease were prices of warehousing and support services for transportation (-19.8%), land transport services and transport services via pipelines (-2.7%), prices legal and accounting services (-1.4%) and telecommunication services (-1.3%). Increasing were prices in advertising and market research services (+5.5%) and prices of programming services (+1.7%). Market services prices excluding advertising services decreased by 0.8% (-0.1% in March).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – February 2013*
According to the Eurostat News Releases industrial producer prices in the EU27 rose by 0.4% in February (like in January), month-on-month. Among the Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were observed in the United Kingdom (+2.0%), Greece (+1.7%) and Hungary (+1.2%). Prices decreased only in Slovakia (-0.6%), Latvia (-0.3%) and Germany (-0.1%). Prices remained stable in the Czech Republic and Austria and rose in Poland (+0.3%).
EU27 producer prices rose by 1.3% in February (+1.7% in January), year-on-year. The largest increases were observed in Estonia (+9.7%), Romania (+6.5%) and Belgium (+4.2%). Prices rose in Slovakia (+1.4%), the Czech Republic (+1.3%), Germany (+1.2%) and Poland (+0.3%). Decreases were recorded in Austria (-0.5%) and Sweden (-1.6%).

Information on the revision of index calculations of agricultural producer prices and market services prices.
Agricultural producer price indices are calculated from January 2013 on the new weighting schemes derived from the average sales for the years 2009, 2010 and 2011. The indices are calculated for new base average of 2010 = 100. The revised time series of price indices for the years 2010, 2011 and 2012 is currently publishing retrospectively in its first “after revision” January 2013 publication which was published by the 1 st of March 2013. This new time series of indices has a single base - average of 2010. More detailed information is presented on the website of the Czech Statistical Office.
The price indices of market services are counted from January 2013 on the new weights based on the structure of sales in 2011. The newly calculated indices based on the average of 2011 = 100 were chained to the current average price base year 2005 = 100 which is a continuation of the indices. Except for the construction work price indices, the published data are finalised. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carrying out on the 9th calendar day of the following day. Construction work price indices are updated using the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
