Prices of the industrial producers increased month-on-month

In September 2011, compared with the previous month, prices of agricultural producers fell by 2.2%. Prices of construction work stayed unchanged. Prices of industrial producers and market services increased by 0.2% and 0.8%, respectively.
In comparison to September 2010, agricultural and industrial producer prices were higher by 9.9% and 5.6%, respectively. Prices of market services were 0.5% up. Construction work prices decreased by 0.6%.

Monthly changes
Agricultural producer prices fell by 2.2% in total. Prices of crop products decreased by 4.6%, lower were prices of cereals (-2.8%) and potatoes (-31.3%). Prices of vegetables decreased (-4.2%), on the contrary, those of fruit increased (+3.6%). Prices of animal products increased by 0.6%, higher were prices of eggs (+13.0%) and poultry (+0.3%). Prices of pigs for slaughter, cattle for slaughter and milk increased coincidently by 0.1%.
Prices of industrial producers rose by 0.2%. Prices went up in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+1.7%), ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (+0.8%) and ‘transport equipment’ (+0.4%). Prices went down in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-1.1%), ‘mining and quarrying’ (-0.3%) and ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (-0.1%).
According to an estimate, construction work prices stayed unchanged; construction material input prices decreased by 0.1%.
Market services prices in the business sphere increased by 0.8%. Price growth was recorded in advertising and market research services (+8.0%). On the other hand prices of employment services decreased (-6.8%). Market services prices in total excluding advertising services decreased by 0.1%.
Annual changes
Agricultural producer prices were 9.9% up (+16.4% in August). Prices of crop products grew by 11.9%, due to higher prices of cereals (+22.2%) and oil plants (+31.3%). Prices of fruit were higher (+25.6%, mainly apples). Prices of potatoes (-37.0%, specifically main crop food potatoes) and vegetables (-31.6%) decreased. Prices of animal products grew (+7.6%), due to higher price of milk (+10.8%), poultry (+10.7%), cattle for slaughter (+5.2%) and pigs for slaughter (+2.0%). Prices of eggs were up (+4.2%) after twenty months of their decrease.
Industrial producer prices gained 5.6% (+5.7% in August). The total index was influenced particularly by the higher prices in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+24.0%), ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+8.4%) and ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (+5.9%). Prices fell only in ‘computer, electronic and optical products’ (-1.5%) and ‘transport equipment’ (-0.8%), y-o-y.
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘energy’ increased the most (+9.2%), y-o-y.
According to an estimate, construction work prices were 0.6% down (same as in August). Construction material input prices were 2.6% up (+2.2% in August).
Market services prices in the business sphere were 0.5% up (+0.9% in August). Increasing were especially prices in advertising and market research services (+5.0%). On the increase were also prices of freight transport services (+1.9%) and architectural and engineering services (+0.3%). Lower prices were recorded in rental and leasing services (-6.1%), insurance services (-2.4%) and telecommunication services (-0.3%). Market services prices excluding advertising services decreased by 0.1% in total (+0.3% in August).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – August 2011*
According to the Eurostat News Release industrial producer prices in the EU27 decreased by 0.2% in August (+0.4% in July), month-on-month. Among the Member States for which data are available, the largest decreases were observed in the United Kingdom (-1.1%), Bulgaria (-1.0%) and Greece (-0.9%). Prices decreased in Germany (-0.3%) and the Czech Republic (-0.1%). The highest increases were recorded in Latvia (+0.8%), Poland (+0.4%) and Hungary (+0.3%). Prices rose in Slovakia (+0.1%).
EU27 producer prices rose by 6.7% in August (+7.1% in July), year-on-year. The largest increases were observed in the United Kingdom (+11.9%), Lithuania (+10.5%) and Latvia (+9.4%), Prices rose in Poland (+7.0%), the Czech Republic (+5.7%), Germany (+5.4%) and Slovakia (+1.9%). There is none y-o-y price decrease in EU27 countries.

Except for the construction work price indices, the published data are finalised. Construction work price indices are updated using the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
