Producer price indices - June 2012
Y-o-y growth of industrial producer prices slowed down further

In June 2012 compared with the previous month, agricultural producer prices increased by 2 . 3%. Construction work prices stayed unchanged . Industrial producer prices and market services prices decreased by 0.3% and 0.4%, respectively .
In comparison to June 2011, prices of agricultural and industrial producer prices increased by 0. 2% and 1.5%, respectively . Prices of construction works and market services were both lower by 0.5%.
Month-on-month comparison:
Agricultural producer prices in total increased (+2.3%). Prices of crop products rose by 6.0%. Higher were prices of potatoes (+100.7%, early), fruit* (+10.9%) and cereals (+2.4%). Prices of vegetables* fell (-12.2%). Prices of animal products decreased (-2.3%) due to lower prices of eggs (-12.6%) and milk (-3.8%). In contrast, on the increase were prices of cattle for slaughter (+1.3%) and pigs for slaughter (+0.6%).
Prices of industrial producers decreased by 0.3%, this is first drop since August 2011. Prices went down the most significantly in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (-5.5%), ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-1.6%). Prices went up in ‘transport equipment’ (+0.7%), of these particularly in ‘parts and accessories for motor vehicles’ (+0.9%). Prices increased in ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (+0.4%) and ‘food products, beverages tobacco’ (+0.1%), of these ‘preserved meat a meat products’ (+0.6%).
According to an estimate, construction work and construction material input prices stayed unchanged.
Market services prices in the business sphere fell by 0.4%, affected by price decrease in advertising and market research services (-2.5%) and insurance services (-3.0%). In contrast, financial intermediation, except insurance (+2.3%) grew. Market services prices in total excluding advertising services fell (-0.1%).
Year-on-year comparison:
Agricultural producer prices were higher by 0.2% (-2.6% in May). Prices of crop products fell by 1.7%. Lower prices were registered for prices of potatoes (-12.8%) and cereals (-4.9%). In contrast, on the increase were prices of vegetables (+32.9%), fruit (+8.3%) and oil plants (+4.5%). Animal products prices grew (+2.8%), due to higher price of eggs (+67.2%) and pigs for slaughter (+13.8%). On the increase were also prices of cattle for slaughter (+10.2%) and poultry (+0.2%). Prices of milk (-8.0%) decreased.
Industrial producer prices gained 1.5% (+1.7% in May). Prices went up particularly in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+6.6%), ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+4.7%) and ‘rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic mineral products’ (+2.6%). Prices increased in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+1.2%), of these in ‘other food products’ (+8.2%), ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+4.7%) and ‘beverages’ (+3.9%). Drops were observed in ‘grain mill products, starches and starch products’ (-11.2%), ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (-6.9%) and ‘dairy products’ (-5.1%). Prices decreased in ‘mining and quarrying’ (-5.8%), particularly in ‘coal and lignite’ (-10.8%).
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (+1.8%) increased the most, y-o-y.
According to an estimate, construction work prices were down by 0.5% (-0.6% in May). Construction material input prices were up by 1.3% (+1.8% in May).
Market services prices in the business sphere decreased by 0.5% (-0.8% in May). Decreasing were prices in advertising and market research services (-0.9%), insurance services (-2.0%) and architectural and engineering services (-2.7%). On the increase were prices of freight transport services (+0.6%) and financial intermediation, except insurance (+3.2%). Market services prices excluding advertising services decreased by 0.4% in total (-0.3% in May).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – May 2012**
According to the Eurostat News Releases industrial producer prices in the EU27 decreased by 0.7% in May (stable in April), month-on-month. Among the Member States for which data are available, the largest decreases in the total index were recorded in the United Kingdom (-2.0%), Denmark and Greece (-1.4% both) and France (-1.1%). Prices went down in Austria (-0.6%) and Germany (-0.3%), remained stable in the Czech Republic and rose in Poland (+0.1%). The highest increases were observed in Cyprus (+2.1%), Hungary (+0.6%), Estonia and Slovakia (both +0.5%).
EU27 producer prices rose by 2.4% (+2.8% in April), year-on-year. The largest increases were observed in Cyprus (+9.1%), Hungary (+7.4%) and Lithuania (+5.6%). Prices rose in Poland (+4.6%), Slovakia (+4.1%), Germany (+2.1%), the Czech Republic (+1.7%) and Austria (+0.4%). The only decrease was recorded in Sweden (-0.2%).

Except for the construction work price indices, the published data are finalised. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carrying out on the 9th calendar day of the following day. Construction work price indices are updated using the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
