Cybersecurity of Czech Statistical Office information systems
Project Title: Cybersecurity of Czech Statistical Office information systems
Reg. No.: CZ.31.2.0/0.0/0.0/23_094/0010261
Project duration: 1. 1. 2024 – 31. 5. 2026 (29 months)
Total project budget: 14 886 417 CZK
CSO expenses: 2 956 299 CZK
Programme: National Recovery Plan
Pillar: 1 Digital transformation
Component: 1.2 Digital public administration systems
Reform/Investment: Investment 3: Cybersecurity
Directing authority: Ministry of the Interior
Project Description:
The project is aimed at increasing the cybersecurity of important information systems, including their security infrastructure.
The final product of the project will be a security infrastructure that:
- will enable anomaly detection, collection and visualization of security events and information from several information systems and, through advanced analysis and rules, ensure a rapid response to potential security incidents,
- will fulfill the primary need for backup storage for possible rapid recovery and at the same time solve the case of replacing disk capacity for critical information assets in primary block arrays failures,
- will create a secure redundant connection of both data centers as well as a redundant connection of each element within the data center.
Overall, the project will contribute to protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data and systems.
The project is funded by the European Union within the EU Recovery and Resilience Instrument (see https://planobnovy.gov.cz/).

Project type: National subsidy programs
Purpose of the project. The Central Statistical Library of the Czech Statistical Office provide library and information services within the meaning of Act No. 257/2001 Coll., on libraries and conditions for operating public library and information services. According to this Act, the CZSO as the operator of the Central Statistical Library is, among other things, obliged to "ensure equal access to public library and information services and other services provided by the library", and these services also consist of "making library documents from the library collection or from the library collection of other libraries available. In order for the library operator to ensure these tasks, it is necessary for the Central Statistical Library to operate a stable modern information library system and for it to contain metadata of the managed library collection in accordance with applicable international standards and cataloguing rules.
ÚSK manages a library collection that has been built up for more than 100 years. It currently contains approximately 60 thousand periodical books.
Currently, the CZSO library operates the Clavius information library system to ensure its activities. After the new library system is deployed, the existing library collection data will be migrated to a new format that will enable the connection of the CZSO library system with other systems, for example with the systems of specialist libraries, such as the National Library or the National Technical Library.
The objective of the project is to manage a new library system for the Central Library of the CZSO. The software used in the Central Library is outdated (about 20 years old) and the metadata recorded for individual publications do not meet current standards. Replacing the library system is part of the priority tasks of the CZSO.
The project is financed by the Ministry of Culture within the framework of the announced VISK subsidy procedure for the year 2025 (viz. https://visk.nkp.cz).
Acquisition of innovative technological equipment for the Central Statistical Library of the CZSO
Project name: Acquisition of innovative technological equipment for the Central Statistical Library of the CZSO
Number of the decision on the provision of a subsidy: MK 32644/2025 OUKKO
Start of project implementation: 1. 1. 2025
End of project implementation: 31. 12. 2025
Total project costs: 278 663 CZK
Of which MK subsidy: 81 000 CZK
Of which CZSO co-financing: 197 663 CZK
Program: Public Information Services of Libraries (VISK)
Subprogram: VISK 3 Information Centers of Public Libraries - ICEKNI
Main priority: 7. Support for the purchase of above-standard and innovative technological equipment for libraries
Subsidy provider: Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic
Project type: National subsidy programs
Purpose of the project. Purchase of innovative technological equipment for the Central Statistical Library of the CZSO - primarily RFID technology will enable effective registration and revision of the library collection, simplification of loans, including absentee loans, etc.
The project objective to modernize the Central Statistical Library through the implementation of new technologies that will make the processes of managing the library collection, registering readers and borrowing more efficient. The key objective is to introduce a modern automated library system (addressed by a separate grant application in the VISK3 subprogramme under the title "New Library System for the Central Statistical Library of the CZSO") and RFID technologies that will speed up and simplify the borrowing and returning of publications. The project also emphasizes increasing the user comfort of readers, both through faster services and by preparing conditions for the introduction of absentee borrowing.
The modernization also includes expanding the library's technological equipment, which will reduce the administrative burden on staff and contribute to more effective management and protection of the library collection. This step will prepare the library for the future introduction of security measures to protect the library collection.
The project is financed by the Ministry of Culture within the framework of the announced VISK grant procedure for 2025 (viz. https://visk.nkp.cz).
