M-o-m and y-o-y increased in industrial producer prices

In June 2010, agricultural and industrial producer prices increased by 3.0% and 0.5%, respectively. Construction work prices decreased by 0.1%. Market services prices fell by 0.5%.
In comparison to June 2009, agricultural producer prices, construction work prices and market services prices were lower by 2.7%, 0.3% and 1.5%, respectively. Industrial producer prices increased by 2.0%.

Monthly changes
Agricultural producer prices increased by 3.0% in total. Prices of crop products grew by 5.2%. Higher were prices of potatoes (+84.8%, particularly yearly potatoes) and fruit (+20.5%), prices of vegetables fell (-2.3%). Prices of animal products increased by 0.8%. Increases were recorded for prices of milk (+1.0%) and pigs for slaughter (+3.7%). Prices of eggs fell by 11.6%.
Industrial producer prices increased by 0.5% (+0.7% in May). Prices went up the most significantly in ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (+2,8%), ‘coke, refined petroelum products’ (+1.6%) and ‘food products, beverages and tobacco’ (0.4%). Prices decreased the most in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-1.3%).
According to an estimate, construction work prices fell by 0.1%, construction material input prices increased by 0.9%.
Market services prices in the business sphere fell by 0.5%, affected by price decrease of 5.9% in advertising and market research services. Price increases were registered in information services (+0.7%) and real estate services (+0.8%). Market services prices excluding advertising services increased in total by 0.1%.
Annual changes
Agricultural producer prices were down by 2.7% (-1.2% in May). Prices of crop products fell by 8.1%. Decreases were registered for prices of potatoes (-10.3%), cereals (-7.8%) and vegetables (-3.3%). Animal products prices grew (+3.3%), due to higher price in milk (+21.3%). On the decrease were prices of cattle for slaughter (-2.1%), poultry (-3.8%) and pigs for slaughter (-12.1%).
Industrial producer prices increased by 2.0% +1.5% in May). The largest influence on the total y-o-y index was owing to the growth of prices primarily in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+29.6%), ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+14.8%) and ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (+6.0%). Prices went down the most significantly in ‘food products, beverages and tobacco’ (-3.9%), of these the most ‘grain mill products, starches and starch products’ (-12.9%); on the other hand, prices of ‘dairy products’ went up by 6.9%. Prices of ‘transport equipment’ decreased by 3.7%.
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘energy’ increased the most (+7.0%); the largest decrease was recorded for ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (-2.9%).
According to an estimate, construction work prices were down by 0.3% (-0.2% in May). Construction material input prices were up by 2.0% (+0.7% in May).
Market services prices in the business sphere were down by 1.5% (-1.8% in May). Decreasing were prices in advertising and market research services (-7.9%), real estate services (-2.5%), and telecommunications services (-2.2%). Higher prices were recorded in employment services (+14.0%). Market services prices excluding advertising services decreased by 0.6%.
Industrial producer prices in the EU – May 2010*
According to the Eurostat News Release, industrial producer prices in the EU27 increased by 0.2% in May (+0.8% in April), month-on-month. Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were recorded in Hungary (+3.4%), Cyprus (+2.0%), Lithuania (+1.3%) and Slovenia (+1.2%). Prices in Slovakia and Germany rose (+0.3% both). The decreases were observed only in Greece (-0.6%), Sweden and the United Kingdom (-0.5% both).
EU27 producer prices rose by 3.7% in May (+3.6% in April), year-on-year. The largest increases were observed in Malta (+17.0%), Hungary (+9.1%), Greece (+7.3%) and Finland (+7.1%). Prices in Germany increased by 0.7%. The decreases were observed only in Slovakia (-3.1%) and Latvia (-1.2%).

Except for the construction work price indices, the data are finalised. Construction work price indices are updated using the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
