Y-o-y decrease of agricultural producer prices deepened

“Industrial producer prices increased again year-on-year, this time by 1.5%. Year-on-year growth was also recorded in construction work prices by 3.5% and service producer prices in the business sphere by 3 %. On the other hand, prices in agriculture went down by 13.2% year-on-year,” noted Vladimir Klimes, head of Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of CZSO.
Agricultural producer prices decreased by 4.3% m-o-m. Falling were prices of fruit (-9.7%), eggs (‑7.5%), milk (-2.8%), poultry (-2.2%), cattle for slaughter (-1.7%) and pigs for slaughter (-1.3%). Growth was recorded in prices of cereals (+0.7%) and oilseeds (+0.2%). Y-o-y, agricultural producer prices decreased by 13.2% (-10.6% in April). In crop production, prices fell by 13.6%. Lower were prices of fruit (-43.3%), potatoes (-21.6%), cereals (-15.8%) and oilseeds (-10.9%). Rising were prices of fresh vegetables (+3.5%). In animal production, prices went down by 13.0%. Prices decreased for milk (‑24.8%) and pigs for slaughter (-18.8%). Increase occurred in prices of cattle for slaughter (+12.6%), poultry (+5.2%) and eggs (+4.2%).
Prices of industrial producers decreased by 0.1% m-o-m. Prices went down in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (-2.3%). Prices were lower in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. On the decrease were prices in ‘food products’ (-0.2%), thereof ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (-0.3%) and ‘dairy products’ (-0.5%). Prices grew in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+6.7%), ‘rubber and plastic products’ (+3.5%) and ‘basic metals’ (+1.8%). Prices of industrial producers increased by 1.5% y-o-y (+1.0% in April). Prices grew markedly in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Higher were prices in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+14.7%), ‘other non-metallic mineral products’ (+3.8%) and ‘wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (+9.8%). Prices went down in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (-6.0%). Prices fell in ‘food products’ (-4.0%), thereof lower were prices in ‘dairy products’ (-13.1%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (-3.5%). Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘intermediate goods’ (+3.5%) and ‘energy’ (+2.5%) went up y-o-y. Prices of ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (-1.9%) went down. Prices of industrial producers excluding energy were higher by 1.1% (+0.5% in April).
Construction work prices, as estimated, remained unchanged and prices of materials and products used in construction were higher by 1.3% m-o-m. According to the estimate, construction work prices rose by 3.5% y-o-y (+3.2% in April). Prices of materials and products used in the construction grew by 6.1% y-o-y (+4.9% in April).
Service producer prices in the business sphere increased by 0.1% m-o-m. Rising were prices of ‘motion picture, video and television programme production services, sound recording and music publishing’ (+4.9%), ‘advertising and market research services’ (+0.8%) and ‘information services’ (+0.4%). Prices went down for ‘services of head offices; management consulting services’ and ‘land transport services’ (-0.7% both). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services remained unchanged. Service producer prices in the business sphere grew by 3.0% y-o-y (+3.2% in April). Prices rose for ‘advertising and market research services’ (+15.4%), ‘employment services’ (+8.7%), ‘programming and broadcasting services’ (+6.5%) and ‘information services’ (+6.2%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services, increased by 2.1% (same as in April).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – April 2026 (preliminary data)
According to the Eurostat News Releases, industrial producer prices increased in April by 0.7% in EU27 (in March they rose by 3.1%), m-o-m. The highest increases were recorded in Denmark (+3.0%), Croatia (+2.7%) and Belgium (+2.4%). Prices were higher in Slovakia (+2.1%), Czechia (+1.4%), Germany (+1.2%), Poland (+0.7%) and Austria (+0.5%). The largest decreases were observed in France (-2.1%), Estonia (-0.8%) and Sweden (-0.3%). Industrial producer prices went up in April by 4.9% (in March they grew by 2.0%) in EU27, y-o-y. The highest increases were recorded in Bulgaria (+14.5%), Lithuania (+13.1%) and Romania (+11.5%). Prices were higher in Poland (+3.1%), Slovakia (+2.6%), Germany (+1.9%), Austria (+1.3%) and Czechia (+1.0%). The largest decreases were observed in Luxembourg (-3.7%), Estonia (-1.2%), Cyprus (-0.7%) and Latvia (-0.6%).

Except for the construction work price indices, the published figures are final data. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carried out on the 9th calendar day of the following month. Then, construction work price indices are updated using results of the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 46th calendar day of the following quarter.
