Producer prices without significant changes

In September 2013 compared with the previous month, agricultural producer prices were lower by 1.8%. Prices of industrial producer and construction work prices were both higher by 0.1%. Prices of market services grew by 1.5%.
In comparison to September 2012, prices of agricultural producer decreased by 0.1%. Prices of construction works and market services prices were both lower by 1.3% and 1.9%, respectively. Prices of industrial producer increased by 0.6%.
Month-on-month comparison:
Agricultural producer prices were lower by 1.8%. Prices of fresh vegetables decreased by 14.2%, as well as cereals (-4.1%), fruit (-3.6%) and eggs (-2.3%). Prices of pigs for slaughter (+3.7%) increased.
Prices of industrial producers went up by 0.1% m-o-m. The highest growth rate of prices was recorded in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+1.5%), ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+0.6%) and ‘transport equipment’ (+0.5%). Prices fell primarily in ‘mining and quarrying’ (-1.6%) and ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (-0.3%). Prices decreased in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (-0.2%), thereof ‘prepared animal feeds’ (-5.0%), ‘grain mill, starches and starch products’ (-3.6%), on the other hand on the increase were ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+2.5%).
According to an estimate, construction work prices and construction material input prices went up by 0.1% and 0.3%, respectively.
Market services prices in the business sphere increased by 1.5%. Prices of ‘advertising and market research services’ grew by 15.9%, thereof prices in ‘advertising services’ went up by 17.8%. Prices of ‘land transport services and transport services via pipelines’ were higher by 1.7%. Market services prices in total excluding advertising services also grew by 0.3%.
Year-on-year comparison:
Agricultural producer prices went down by 0.1% (-0.2% in August). Prices of crop products fell by 4.9%, thereof cereals (-17.3%) and oil plants (-13.8%). Higher were prices of potatoes (+81.1%) and fresh vegetables (+24.3%). Prices of animal products increased by 7.4%. On the increase were prices of milk (+17.2%), pigs for slaughter (+6.9%) and poultry (+6.5%). Prices of eggs went down by 27.6%.
Industrial producer prices gained 0.6% (+0.5% in August). Price level was particularly influenced by the higher prices in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (+3.6%). Prices rose in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+2.4%), thereof ‘dairy products’ (+12.1%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+4.7%). On the other hand, lower were prices in ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (-14.3%) and ‘prepared animal feeds’ (-3.5%). Prices increased in ‘transport equipment’ (+2.1%), thereof ‘parts and accessories for motor vehicles’ (+3.1%). Prices decreased primarily in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (-6.0%), ‘mining and quarrying’ (-3.6%) and ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (-1.2%).
Among the main industrial groupings prices of ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (+2.4%) increased the most, decreased only prices of ‘intermediate goods’ (-0.5%).
According to an estimate, construction work prices went down by 1.3% (-1.4% in August) and construction material input prices fell by 0.1% (-0.7% in August).
Market services prices in the business sphere decreased by 1.9% (-2.1% in August). On the decrease were prices of ‘telecommunication services’ (-21.0%), ‘storage’ (-19.8%), ‘land transport services and transport services via pipelines’ (-2.6%) and ‘legal and accounting services’ (-1.3%). Increasing were prices in ‘postal and courier services’ (+8.3%) and prices of ‘advertising and market research services’ (+7.9%). Market services prices excluding advertising services decreased by 2.5% (-2.8% in August).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – August 2013*
According to the Eurostat News Releases, industrial producer prices increased by 0.1% in August (+0.4% in July) in EU28, month-on-month. Among the Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were recorded in Estonia (+1.7%), Denmark (+1.1%) and Ireland (+1.0%). Prices rose in Slovakia (+0.5%) and Austria (+0.2%). The largest decreases were observed in Belgium (-1.4%), Romania (-0.6%). Prices went down in Poland (-0.2%) and in the Czech Republic and Germany (-0.1% both).
Industrial producer prices decreased by 0.3% in August (+0.5% in July) in EU28, year-on-year. The largest decreases were recorded in Bulgaria (-2.9%), Cyprus (-2.7%) and Lithuania (-2.5%). Prices fell in Poland (-1.4%), Austria (-1.3%), Slovakia (-0.7%) and Germany (-0.4%). Prices rose in the Czech Republic (+0.5%). The highest increases were observed in Estonia (+9.7%), Denmark (+3.2%) and Ireland (+3.0%).

Except for the construction work price indices, the published data are finalised. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carrying out on the 9th calendar day of the following day. Construction work price indices are updated using the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
