Producer price indices - November 2010
The biggest y-o-y growth of industrial producer prices after 25 months

In November 2010, agricultural producer prices and industrial producer prices increased by 1.7% and 0.5% month on month, respectively. Construction work prices stayed unchanged. Market services prices fell by 0.1%.
In comparison to November 2009, agricultural producer prices and industrial producer prices were higher by 23.4% and 2.7%, respectively. Construction work prices and market services prices decreased by 0.3% and 1.2%, respectively.

Monthly changes
Agricultural producer prices increased by 1.7% in total. Prices of crop products grew by 2.9%, due to higher prices of potatoes (+1.5%), cereals (+3.2%) and fruit (+11.5%, particularly industrial apples). On the decrease were prices of vegetables (-2.1%). Prices of animal products increased by 0.4%. Increases were recorded for prices of cattle for slaughter and poultry (+0.8% both) and milk (+2.6%). Prices of pigs for slaughter (-3.2%) and eggs (-3.7%) fell.
Prices of industrial producer increased by 0.5% (no change in October). The largest influence on the total y-o-y index was owing to the growth of prices in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+0.8%), primarily ‘bakery and farinaceous products’ (+3.7%) and ‘grain mill products, starches and starch products’ (+4.6%). Prices rose in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+2.0%) and ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+1.5%). The only decreased was recorded in ‘wood, wood products, paper, printing’ (-0.1%).
According to an estimate, after three months in sequence, construction work prices stayed unchanged. Construction material input prices increased by 0.6%.
Market services prices in the business sphere fell by 0.1%, affected by price decrease in advertising and market research services (-0.1%), employment services (-0.3%) and financial intermediation (-0.4%, particularly financial leasing). Market services prices in total excluding advertising services stayed unchanged.
Annual changes
Agricultural producer prices were up by 23.4% (+21.1% in October). Prices of crop products grew by 39.0%. Considerable increases were registered for prices of cereals (+48.5%), plant oils (+40.7%), potatoes (+68.9%), fruit (+72.5%) and vegetables (+36.3%). Animal products prices grew (+9.0%), due to higher price of milk (+26.8%). On the increase were prices of poultry (+1.5%) and cattle for slaughter (+2.3%). On the decrease were prices of pigs for slaughter (-3.9%) and eggs (-18.2%). The considerable y-o-y growth was influenced particularly by lower comparative basis from the year of 2009.
Industrial producer prices rose by 2.7% (+2.6% in October). This is the highest growth for last 25 months. Prices went up markedly in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+19.6%), ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+12.4%) and ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (+9.5%). Prices increased in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+1.3%). Prices decreased more significantly in ‘transport equipment’ (-3.8%).
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘intermediate goods’ increased the most (+6.0%); the largest decrease was recorded for ‘capital goods’ (-1.4%).
According to an estimate, construction work prices were down by 0.3% (the same as in October). Construction material input prices were up by 2.7% (+2.2 in October).
Market services prices in the business sphere were down by 1.2% (the same as in October). Decreasing were prices in advertising and market research services (-7.0%), insurance (-3.8%) and architectural and engineering services (-1.1%). Higher prices were recorded in employment services (+4.0%) and postal and courier services (+3.1%). Prices in freight transport grew by 2.0%. Market services prices excluding advertising services decreased in total by 0.4%.
Industrial producer prices in the EU – October 2010*
According to the Eurostat News Release, industrial producer prices in the EU27 increased by 0.5% in October (+0.3% in September), month-on-month. Among the Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were recorded in France and the Netherlands (+0.8% both), Denmark, Spain and Sweden (+0.6% all). Prices rose in Germany (+0.4%). The largest decreases were observed in Ireland (-0.8%) and Latvia (-0.6%). Prices decreased in Slovakia (-0.1%).
EU27 producer prices rose by 4.5% in October (+4.6% in September), year-on-year. The largest increases in the total index were observed in Malta (+14.8%), Bulgaria (+10.1%) and Hungary (+10.0%). Prices rose in Germany (+4.1%). The only decrease was observed in Slovakia (-1.1%).

Except for the construction work price indices, the data are finalised. Construction work price indices are updated using the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
