Prices in the crop production fell y-o-y

Agricultural producer prices (+2.4%), industrial producer prices (+0.1%), construction work prices (+0.6%) and service producer prices in the business sphere (+1.2%) went up, month-on-month (m-o-m). From the year-on-year perspective, agricultural producer prices (+2.0%), industrial producer prices (+1.9%), construction work prices (+4.1%) and service producer prices in the business sphere (+2.8%) increased.
Month-on-month comparison
Agricultural producer prices grew by 2.4%. Prices of poultry (+7.8%), eggs (+3.6%), pigs for slaughter (+1.7%) and cereals (+0.4%) increased. Prices of vegetables (-13.6%), cattle for slaughter (-0.9%), milk (-0.5%) and oleaginous crops (-0.3%) decreased.
Prices of industrial producers increased by 0.1%. Prices went up particularly in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Prices of ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ were higher by 0.2%, thereof ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+1.1%) and ‘dairy products’ (+1.2%). On the increase were also prices in ‘furniture, other manufactured products’ (+0.3%) and ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (+0.1%). Lower were prices in ‘rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic mineral products’ and ‘mining and quarrying’ (-0.2% both) and ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-0.1%).
According to an estimate, construction work prices were higher by 0.6% and prices of construction material and products input were lower by 0.3%.
Service producer prices in the business sphere went up by 1.2%. Prices for ‘advertising and market research services’ (+17.3%), ‘employment services’ (+3.4%), ‘management consulting services’ (+1.1%) and ‘architectural and engineering services’ (+1.0%) grew. Prices for ‘warehousing and support services for transportation’ (-0.3%) and ‘financial services, except insurance and pension funding’ (-0.2%) fell. Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services, were higher by 0.2%.
Year-on-year comparison
Agricultural producer prices rose by 2.0% (in August they increased by 4.1%). Prices in the crop production fell by 0.9%. Prices of oleaginous crops (-5.8%) and cereals (-3.9%) dropped. Prices of potatoes (+29.4%), fruit (+20.4%) and vegetables (+1.2%) grew. Prices of animal products rose by 6.6%. Prices of pigs for slaughter (+24.0%), poultry (+8.8%) and milk (+3.4%) increased. Prices for eggs (-6.7%) and cattle for slaughter (-2.0%) decreased.
Prices of industrial producers rose by 1.9% (+2.1% in August). Prices were higher primarily in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (+7.7%). Prices grew in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+3.6%), thereof ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+10.3%). Prices increased in ‘furniture, other manufactured products’ (+4.3%), ‘rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic mineral products’ (+2.3%) and ‘mining and quarrying’ (+6.6%). Prices decreased significantly in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Lower were prices also in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-2.5%).
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (+3.7%) and ‘energy’ (+3.0%) were higher especially.
According to an estimate, construction work prices rose by 4.1% (in August they increased by 3.8%) and prices for construction material and products input grew by 2.7% (in August they increased by 3.2%).
Service producer prices in the business sphere were higher by 2.8% (in August they increased by 2.7%). Prices for ‘employment services’ (+10.8%), ‘insurance, reinsurance and pension funding services, except compulsory social security’ (+6.6%) and ‘advertising and market research services’ (+6.0%) went up. Furthermore, prices were higher for ‘management consulting services’ (+5.6%) and land transport services’ (+1.9%). Prices of ‘warehousing and support services for transportation’ were lower by 1.2%. Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services, grew by 2.4% (the same way as in August).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – August 2019 (preliminary data)
According to the Eurostat News Releases, industrial producer prices decreased in August by 0.4% (+0.2% in July) in EU28, month-on-month. The largest decrease in industrial producer prices was recorded in Spain (-1.4%). Prices were lower in Germany and Austria (-0.4% both) and Slovakia (-0.1%) and were higher in the Czech Republic (+0.1%) and Poland (+0.2%). The highest increase was observed in Bulgaria (+0.7%).
Industrial producer prices were lower in August by 0.3% (+0.5% in July) in EU28, year-on-year.
The largest decrease in industrial producer prices was recorded in Denmark (-4.4%). Prices were lower in Austria (-1.1%) and were higher in the Czech Republic (+2.1%), Slovakia (+2.0%), Poland (+1.0%) and Germany (+0.6%). Prices increased the most in Romania (+4.7%).

Industrial producer price indices: 20th calendar day of reference month / 9th calendar day of the following month
Service producer prices in the business sphere: 20th calendar day of reference month / 9th calendar day of the following month
Except for the construction work price indices, the published figures are final data. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carried out on the 9th calendar day of the following month. Then, construction work price indices are made more precise using results of the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 46th calendar day of the following quarter.
