Classifications, Code lists
Statistical classifications and code lists are a methodological instrument, which is necessary for collection and processing of statistical data and for publishing aggregate statistical information.
All valid statistical classifications and code lists issued in the Collection of Laws of the Czech Republic in the form of a communication are binding for both bodies performing the State Statistical Service as well as for reporting units, which provide data for statistical surveys carried out pursuant to the Act on the State Statistical Service.
Besides classifications and code lists, which the CZSO issued in the form of communication in the Collection of Laws of the Czech Republic, the metainformation database also includes classifications and code lists, which were not issued by communication in the Collection of Laws of the Czech Republic.

- Classifications
Classifications – the following are available under the mentioned link: up-to-date statistical classifications issued by the CZSO in the Collection of Laws of the Czech Republic in the form of communication or introduced by a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council, including related materials (methodologies, conversion tables, and the like).
The statistical classification is a hierarchical arrangement of certain economic, social or demographic phenomena or processes. It follows the relationships of phenomena and processes from general to specific ones. The phenomena and processes are arranged and broken down in classifications usually to sections, divisions, groups and classes. A higher level of the structure always breaks down into more detailed lower levels; individual levels of classifications are hierarchically and logically arranged. - Code lists
Code lists – selected statistical code lists are available under the mentioned link, some of which were issued by the CZSO in the Collection of Laws of the Czech Republic in the form of communication, including related materials (methodologies, conversion tables, and the like).
The statistical code list is an arranged list of codes and meanings assigned to them. The code list does not have a hierarchical structure in most cases. - Metainformation Database
Metainformation database – it contains classifications, code lists, and indicators used in the statistical information system of the CZSO.
The Metainformation database enables to search, view and download classifications, code lists, their correspondences (in csv, dbf and xml formats) and related documents (in doc, docx, gif, pdf, xls, xlsx and xml formats). It also enables to view indicators.
