Producer price indices - August 2026

“Prices agricultural decreased already nine months in a row y-o-y. In August, this decrease was 11.8%. On the other hand, prices in industry went up by 2.0% y-o-y. Y-o-y growth was also recorded in construction work prices by 4.4% and service producer prices in the business sphere by 2.7%,” noted Jiří Šulc, head of Agricultural, Construction and Services Prices Statistics Unit of CZSO.

Agricultural producer prices increased by 0.3% m-o-m. Y-o‑y, agricultural producer prices decreased by 11.8% (-13.0% in July). In crop production, prices fell by 3.0%. Lower were prices of cereals (-6.7%) and potatoes (-7.7%). Rising were prices of fruit (+6.0%), fresh vegetables (+2.5%) and oilseeds (+0.4%). In animal production, prices dropped by 20.1%. Prices went down for milk (‑27.3%), pigs for slaughter (‑26.9%), eggs (-10.0%), cattle for slaughter (-9.6%) and poultry (-0.4%).

Prices of industrial producers rose by 0.4% m-o-m. Prices increased markedly in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Higher were prices in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (+0.5%), ’printing and recording services’ (+1.7%) and ‘textiles’ (+2.7%). Lower were prices in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-2.7%), ‘rubber and plastics products’ (-0.9%). Prices went down in ‘food products’ (-0.1%), thereof ‘dairy products’ (-0.8%). Prices of industrial producers increased by 2.0% y-o-y (+1.6% in July). Prices grew significantly in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Higher were prices in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+12.1%), ‘basic metals’ (+5.6%) and ‘rubber and plastic products’ (+5.3%). Higher were also prices in ‘wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture’ (+11.3%). Prices went down in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (-4.8%). Prices fell in ‘food products’ (-5.6%), thereof lower were prices in ‘dairy products’ (-15.8%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (-6.9%). Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘intermediate goods’ (+4.4%) and ‘energy’ (+3.4%) went up y-o-y. Prices of ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (-2.5%) went down. Prices of industrial producers excluding energy were higher by 1.5% (+1.4% in July).

Construction work prices, as estimated, increased by 0.3% and prices of materials and products used in construction were lower by 0.1% m-o-m. According to the estimate, construction work prices rose by 4.4% y-o-y (+4.5% in July). Prices of materials and products used in the construction grew by 6.8% y-o-y (+6.9% in July).

Service producer prices in the business sphere increased by 0.7% m-o-m. Prices went up for ‘programming and broadcasting services’ (+9.2%), ‘advertising and market research services’ (+9.1%), ‘motion picture, video and television programme production services, sound recording and music publishing’ (+5.5%), ‘employment services’ (+2.3%) and ‘legal and accounting services’ (+0.5%). Falling were prices of ‘services of head offices; management consulting services’ (-1.4%), ‘information services’ (-0.5%) and ‘computer programming, consultancy and related services’ (-0.3%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services went up by 0.2%. Service producer prices in the business sphere grew by 2.7% y-o-y (+2.8% in July). Prices rose for ‘advertising and market research services’ (+12.1%), ‘employment services’ (+10.9%), ‘security and investigation services’ (+6.3%), ‘information services’ (+3.8%) and ‘legal and accounting services’ (+2.2%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services, increased by 2.1% (same as in July).

Industrial producer prices in the EU – July 2026 (preliminary data)
According to the Eurostat News Releases, industrial producer prices increased in July by 1.4% in EU27 (in June they fell by 0.2%), m-o-m. The highest monthly increases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Ireland (+4.3%), Spain and Italy (+3.0% both) and Cyprus (+2.3%). Prices grew in Slovakia (+1.8%), Germany and Poland (+1.1% both), Austria (+0.7%) and Czechia (+0.3%). The largest decreases were observed in Estonia (-3.3%), Finland (-1.6%) and Sweden (-1.1%). Industrial producer prices went up in July by 5.6% (in June they grew by 4.7%) in EU27, y-o-y. The highest annual increases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Ireland (+14.8%), Lithuania (+12.9%) and Bulgaria (+12.5%). Prices were higher in Poland (+3.5%), Germany (+3.1%), Slovakia (+2.7%), Austria (+2.5%) and Czechia (+1.6%). For the third month in a row, the only decrease was observed in Luxembourg (-7.3%).
