In January 2013 compared with the previous month, agricultural producer prices increased by 2.3%, industrial producer prices also grew (+1.1%). Construction work prices went up by 0.1%. Market services prices stayed unchanged.
In comparison to January 2012, prices of agricultural and industrial producer prices increased by 15.4% and 1.4%, respectively. Prices of construction works and market services were lower by 0.7% and 1.5%, respectively.
Month-on-month comparison:
Agricultural producer prices in total went up (+2.3%). Prices of milk, cereals and vegetables increased (+2.2%, +2.8% and 5.4%). Prices of poultry fell (-0.7%), eggs (-2.4%), pigs (-2.6%), oil plants (-3.9%) and also fruit (-4.9%) went down.
Prices of industrial producers went up by 1.1%. Prices rose the most significantly in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (+3.7%) and ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+0.9%), thereof ‘prepared animal feeds’ (+3.4%) and ‘beverages’ (+1.8%). Prices increased in ‘water supply, sewerage, waste management’ (+5.7%) and ‘mining and quarrying’ (+2.5%). Prices went down only in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (-0.2%) and ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (-0.1%).
According to an estimate, construction work increased (+0,1%), construction material input prices stayed grew by 0.5%
Market services prices in the business sphere has not changed. Prices of information services grew (+2.2%), prices of supporting transport services also went up (+1.7%). Prices of advertising and market research services decreased by 3.6%. Market services prices in total excluding advertising services increased by 0.2%.
Year-on-year comparison:
Agricultural producer prices were higher by 15.4% (+13.8% in December). Prices of crop products grew by 29.4%, primarily prices of vegetables increased (+55.6%), potatoes (+42.6%), cereals (+38.0%) and oil plants (+15.0%). Prices of fruit were higher by 3.6%. Animal products prices increased by 1.7%. Price of eggs grew (+19.4%), prices of cattle for slaughter increased as well (+9.8%). On the increase were also prices of poultry (+7.9%) and pigs for slaughter (+6.5%). Prices of milk decreased by 6.7%.
Industrial producer prices gained 1.4% (+1.2% in December). Price level was the most influenced by the higher prices in ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (+3.7%) and ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+3.9%). Prices rose primarily in ‘prepared animal feeds’ (+24.0%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+5.5%). Prices went up in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+8.4%) and ‘water supply, sewerage, waste management’ (+5.9%) and went down in ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (-2.2%), ‘mining and quarrying’ (-2.7%) and ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (-0.8%).
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (+2.0%) increased the most, prices of ‘durable consumer goods’ (-0.3%) decreased only.
According to an estimate, construction work prices were down by 0.7% (-0.9% in December after specification). Construction material input prices were up by 0.7% (+0.4% in previous month).
Market services prices in the business sphere decreased by 1.5% (-1.9% in December). Decreasing were prices in advertising and market research services (-13.5%), architectural and engineering services (-2.5%) and telecommunication services (-0.8%). On the increase were prices of financial intermediation, except insurance (+2.7%), information services (+3.2%). Market services prices excluding advertising services decreased by 0.3% (-0.4% in December).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – December 2012*
According to the Eurostat News Releases industrial producer prices in the EU27 decreased by 0.2% in December (like in November), month-on-month. Among the Member States for which data are available, prices fell in almost all Member States, except Belgium and Sweden (both +1.2%) and Finland (+0.2%). The largest decreases were recorded in Bulgaria (-1.0%), Denmark (-0.8%) and Cyprus (-0.7%). Prices decreased in Austria (-0.6%), Poland and Slovakia (-0.4% both) and the Czech Republic and Germany (-0.3% both).
EU27 producer prices rose by 1.9% in December (like in November), year-on-year. The largest increases were observed in Belgium (+6.4%), Bulgaria (+5.4%) and Denmark (+4.9%). Prices increased in Slovakia (+3.8%), Germany (+1.5%), the Czech Republic (+1.2%), Poland (+0.6%) and Austria (+0.1%). The decrease was not recorded.

Information on the revision of index calculations of agricultural producer prices and market services prices.
Agricultural producer price indices are calculated from January 2013 on the new weighting schemes derived from the average sales for the years 2009, 2010 and 2011. The indices are calculated for new base average of 2010 = 100. The revised time series of price indices for the years 2010, 2011 and 2012 is currently publishing retrospectively in its first “after revision” January 2013 publication which will be published by the 1 st of March 2013. This new time series of indices has a single base - average of 2010. More detailed information is presented on the website of the Czech Statistical Office.
The price indices of market services are counted from January 2013 on the new weights based on the structure of sales in 2011. The newly calculated indices based on the average of 2011 = 100 were chained to the current average price base year 2005 = 100 which is a continuation of the indices. Industrial producer price indices: 20th calendar day of reference month / 7th calendar day of the following month

Market services price indices: 15th calendar day of reference month / 7th calendar day of the following month
Except for the construction work price indices, the published data are finalised. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carrying out on the 9th calendar day of the following day. Construction work price indices are updated using the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
