Industrial producer prices fell again

Agricultural producer prices grew by 2.2% month-on-month (m-o-m) and were higher by 8.2% year-on-year (y-o-y). Industrial producer prices fell both m-o-m and y-o-y by 0.3%. Construction work prices grew by 0.6% m-o-m and by 3.0% y‑o‑y. Service producer prices in the business sphere rose by 0.9% m-o-m and by 3.7% y‑o-y.

“In year-on-year comparison, industrial producer prices decreased again, by 0.3%. On the other hand, prices of other producers continued to grow. Prices in agriculture decelerated their increase by 1.1 percentage points to 8.2%. Construction work prices were higher by 3.0% year-on-year and service producer prices in the business sphere by 3.7%,” noted Vladimir Klimes, head of Industrial and International Trade Prices Statistics Unit of CZSO.

Agricultural producer prices increased by 2.2% m-o-m. Rising were prices of eggs (+6.8%), cattle for slaughter (+6.3%), poultry (+5.0%), vegetables (+3.7%), oilseeds (+3.6%), cereals (+1.2%) and milk (+1.1%). Prices of pigs for slaughter decreased (-1.8%). Y‑o‑y, agricultural producer prices grew by 8.2% (+9.3% in February). In crop production, prices went up by 5.1%. Higher were prices of oilseeds (+28.5%), fruit (+25.6%) and cereals (+12.4%), while prices of potatoes (-14.9%) and vegetables (-9.1%) fell. In animal production, prices went up by 12.7%. Prices increased for eggs (+28.4%), cattle for slaughter (+23.6%), milk (+18.5%) and poultry (+6.6%). Decrease occurred in prices of pigs for slaughter (‑15.5%).

Prices of industrial producers fell by 0.3% m-o-m. Prices went down especially in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Lower were prices in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’ (-3.9%), ‘coal and lignite’ (-1.6%), ‘beverages’ (-0.9%) and ‘computer, electronic and optical products’ (-0.7%). Prices rose in ‘other transport equipment’ (+1.7%), ‘printing and recording services’ (+1.6%), and ‘textiles’ and ‘furniture’ (+0.5% both). On the increase were also prices in ‘food products’ (+0.1%), especially in ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (+1.4%), ‘grain mill products, starches and starch products’ (+1.2%) and ‘prepared animal feeds’ (+0.6%). On the other hand, prices went down in ‘processed and preserved fruit and vegetables’ (-0.6%), and ‘other food products’ (-0.5%). Prices of industrial producers fell by 0.3% y-o-y (-0.1% in February). Prices went down particularly in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. On the decrease were prices in ‘crude petroleum and natural gas’ (-17.4%), ‘coal and lignite’ (-9.5%), ‘basic metals’ (-3.7%) and ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-3.1%). Prices rose in ‘food products’ (+1.9%), especially in ‘dairy products’ (+12.4%), ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (+9.8%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+0.4%). On the decrease were prices in ‘other food products’ (-4.6%) and ‘grain mill products, starches and starch products’ (-1.8%). Prices grew in ‘other mining and quarrying products’ (+5.6%), ‘other transport equipment’ (+4.2%) and ‘repair and installation services of machinery and equipment’ (+3.8%). Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘non-durable consumer goods’ (+1.4%) and ‘capital goods’ (+1.6%) went up y-o-y, prices of ‘energy’ (-2.6%) went down. Prices of industrial producers excluding energy were higher by 0.6% (+1.1% in February).

Construction work prices, as estimated, increased by 0.6% and prices of materials and products used in construction were lower by 0.1% m-o-m. According to the estimate, construction work prices rose by 3.0% y‑o‑y (+2.8% in February after updated estimate). Prices of materials and products used in the construction were higher by 0.5% y-o-y (+0.9% in February).

Service producer prices in the business sphere increased by 0.9% m-o-m. Prices went up for ‘advertising and market research services’ (+7.2%) and ‘programming and broadcasting services’ (+7.1%). Falling were prices of 'legal and accounting services' (-0.3%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services rose by 0.5%. Service producer prices in the business sphere grew by 3.7% y-o‑y (+3.5% in February). Prices rose for security and investigation services’ (+12.5%), ‘programming and broadcasting services’ (+7.4%), ‘employment services’ (+7.9%), 'publishing services' (+5.7%), ‘advertising and market research services’ (+4.7%) and 'postal and courier services' (+4.5%). Service producer prices in the business sphere, excluding advertising services, increased by 3.6% (+3.2% in February).

Industrial producer prices in the EU – February 2025 (preliminary data) 

According to the Eurostat News Releases, industrial producer prices increased in February by 0.3% in EU27 (in January they rose by 0.8%), m-o-m. The highest increases were recorded in Estonia (+9.5%), Romania (+4.8%) and Bulgaria (+2.5%). Prices remained stable in Poland and were lower in Czechia (-0.1%) and Austria and Germany (-0.2% both). The largest decreases were observed in Ireland (-4.9%), France and Slovakia (both -0.8%) and Slovenia (-0.5%). Industrial producer prices rose in February by 3.1% (in January they went up by 1.8%) in EU27, y-o-y. The highest increases were recorded in Bulgaria (+19.0%), Ireland (+12.8%) and Estonia (+12.7%). Prices rose in Slovakia (+2.2%) and Germany (+0.8%) and fell in Czechia (-0.1%), Poland (-0.7%) and Austria (-1.1%). Prices decreased the most in Luxembourg (-5.6%), Lithuania (-1.5%) and France (-1.4%).

Except for the construction work price indices, the published figures are final data. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carried out on the 9th calendar day of the following month. Then, construction work price indices are made more precise using results of the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 46th calendar day of the following quarter.
