Y-o-y decrease of industrial producer prices was lower again

In August 2016 compared with the previous month, agricultural producer prices were lower by 0.5% and industrial producer prices went down by 0.2%. Construction work prices and prices of market services stayed unchanged. In comparison to August 2015, agricultural producer prices fell by 6.9% and industrial producer prices also decreased by 3.4%. Construction work prices grew by 0.9% and prices of market services went up by 0.1%.
Month-on-month comparison:
Agricultural producer prices were lower by 0.5%. Prices of potatoes (-19.4%), fruit (-15.5%), fresh vegetables (-6.1%), eggs (-2.9%), poultry (-2.3%) and cereals (-0.8%) went down. Prices of pigs for slaughter (+5.8%), oil plants (+0.7%) and cattle for slaughter (+0.6%) went up.
Prices of industrial producers went down by 0.2%. Prices decreased particularly in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Prices were lower in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-0.6%). On the decrease were also prices in ‘rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic mineral products’ and ‘mining and quarrying’ (-0.2% both). Prices rose in ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ and ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+0.3% both). From ‘food products’, prices were higher in ‘dairy products’ (+1.7%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+1.0%).
According to an estimate, construction work prices and construction material input prices stayed unchanged.
Market services prices in the business sphere stayed unchanged. On the decrease were prices of ‘financial services, except insurance and pension funding’ by 0.1%. Prices of ‘advertising and market research services’ increased by 0.2%. Market services prices excluding advertising services also stayed unchanged.
Year-on-year comparison:
Prices of industrial producers decreased by 3.4% (-4.0% in July). Lower were prices primarily in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Prices fell in ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (-9.4%), ‘mining and quarrying’ (-6.0%) and ‘electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning’ (-4.0%). Lower were prices in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (-2.5%), thereof ‘dairy products’ (-8.0%), ‘grain mill products, starches and starch products’ (-3.6%) and ‘bakery and farinaceous products’ (-2.6%). Prices rose in ‘water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services’ (+1.6%) and ‘furniture, other manufactured products’ (+0.8%), thereof ‘installation services of industrial machinery and equipment (+1.0%).
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘energy’ (-7.4%) decreased the most, y-o-y.
According to an estimate, construction work prices rose by 0.9% (+1.1% in July) and construction material input prices fell by 0.9% (-1.3% in July).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – July 2016*
Industrial producer prices decreased in July by 2.5% (-2.9% in June) in EU28, year-on-year. Prices fell the most in Greece (-7.0%), the Netherlands (-6.4%) and Croatia (-5.0%). Prices went down in Slovakia (-4.7%), the Czech Republic (-4.0%), Austria (-2.8%), Germany (-1.9%) and Poland (-0.8%). Prices increased only in Malta (+0.9%), Denmark (+0.4%) and Sweden (+0.1%).

Except for the construction work price indices, the published data are finalised. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carrying out on the 9th calendar day of the following day. Construction work price indices are updated using the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
