Producer price indices - October 2012
Year-on-year agricultural producer prices continued in growth

In October 2012 compared with the previous month, agricultural producer prices increased by 1.9%, industrial producer prices and market services prices also grew by 0.2% and 0.5%, respectively. Construction work prices stayed unchanged.
In comparison to October 2011, prices of agricultural and industrial producer prices increased by 12.5% and 1.9%, respectively. Prices of construction works and market services were lower by 0.6% and 1.0%, respectively.
Month-on-month comparison:
Agricultural producer prices in total increased (+1.9%). Prices of crop products went up by 1.6%. Furthermore, prices of cereals, vegetables and also oil plants increased by 2.9%, 2.2% and 1,0%, respectively. Prices of potatoes fell (−3.8%). Prices of animal products increased (+2.2%). Prices of eggs went up by 7.7%, prices of pigs for slaughter and poultry were also higher by 4.3% and 1.1%, respectively. There was a decrease in prices of cattle for slaughter after 14 months (-0.5%).
Prices of industrial producers increased by 0.2% in total. Prices rose primarily in ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+1.4%), thereof ‘dairy products’ (+2.6%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+2.1%). Prices went up in ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ (+0.4%). Prices went down in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (-2.0%) and ‘textiles,clothes, leather and leather products’ (-0.7%).
According to an estimate, construction work prices stayed unchanged, construction material input prices stayed fell by 0.1%
Market services prices in the business sphere increased by 0.5%. Prices of advertising and market research services increased by 4.8%. Financial intermediation, except insurance also went up by 0.6%. Market services prices in total excluding advertising services grew by 0.1%.
Year-on-year comparison:
Agricultural producer prices were higher by 12.5% (+10.3% in September). Prices of crop products went up by 20.2%, primarily prices of vegetables (+27.5%), oil plants (+15.6%), cereals (+24.8%) also potatoes (+10.8%). Animal products prices increased by 3.3%. Price of eggs increased (+33.9%), prices of pigs for slaughter increased as well (+23.1%). On the increase were also prices of cattle for slaughter (+11.0%), poultry (+5.3%). Prices of milk decreased by 11.9%.
Industrial producer prices gained 1.9% (+1.7% in September). The total level was influenced by the growth of prices in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ (+9.7%), ‘chemicals and chemical products’ (+11.1%) and ‘food products, beverages, tobacco’ (+4.4%). Prices rose in ‘prepared animal feeds’ (+18.2%), ‘vegetable and animal oils and fats’ (+16.9%) and ‘preserved meat and meat products’ (+8.8%). Prices went down in ‘basic metals and fabricated metal products’ (-2.1%) and ‘wood, wood products, pepper, printing’ (-1.3%) and ‘transport equipment’ (-0.6%).
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘energy’ (+3.9%) increased the most, prices of ‘durable consumer goods’ (-0.4%) decreased.
According to an estimate, construction work prices were down by 0.6% (the same as in September). Construction material input prices were up by 0.7% (+0.6% in September).
Market services prices in the business sphere decreased by 1.0% (−0.5% in September). Decreasing were prices in advertising and market research services (−6.2%), architectural and engineering services (−2.8%) and telecommunication services (−1.0%). On the increase were prices of financial intermediation, except insurance (+3.9%). Market services prices excluding advertising services decreased by 0.1% (−0.2% in September).
Industrial producer prices in the EU – September 2012*
According to the Eurostat News Releases industrial producer prices in the EU27 increased by 0.3% in September (+1.1% in August), month-on-month. Among the Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in the total index were recorded in Denmark (+1.1%), the Netherlands (+0.9%) and Portugal (+0.6%). Prices increased in Austria and Poland (+0.4% both), and Slovakia and Germany (+0.3% both) and remained stable in the Czech Republic. Decreases were recorded in Greece (-0.6%), Spain and Italy (-0.1% both).
EU27 producer prices rose by 2.6% in September (+2.8% in August), year-on-year. The largest increases in the total index were observed in Bulgaria (+6.6%), Cyprus (+6.3%) and Romania (+6.0%). Prices rose in Slovakia (+4.2%), Poland (+3.0%), the Czech Republic and Germany (+1.7% both) and Austria (+0.9%).There is none y-o-y decrease in the EU countries.

Except for the construction work price indices, the published data are finalised. Estimates of the construction work price indices are carrying out on the 9th calendar day of the following day. Construction work price indices are updated using the finished quarterly survey and the finalised data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
