Growth of producer prices decelerated

In July 2007, compared to the previous month, prices of industrial producers grew by 0,2% and prices of construction work grew by 0.3%. Prices of agricultural producers remained unchanged, prices of market services fell by 0.9%.
In comparison to June 2006, prices of agricultural producers, industrial producers, construction work and market services were higher by 11.3%, 4.1%, 3.6% and 0.8%, respectively.

Month-on-month comparison:
Agricultural producer prices remained unchanged in total. Prices of crop products fell by 1.4%, lower were prices of fruit (-11.4%), potatoes (-11.3%) and vegetables (-1,9%). Prices of animal products increased by 1.6% due to higher prices of pigs (+6.8%).
Prices of industrial producers increased by 0.2% in July 2007, which is the lowest growth rate in 2007. The most significant influence on the growth of the total index had the rising prices in ‘food products, beverages and tobacco’ by 0.8% (+0.4% in June), of which the biggest growth by 3.0% occurred in ‘dairy products and ice cream’ (+0.4% in June). A marked influence on the total index, in spite of the decelerating growth rate to 1.1% (from 4.1% in June), was maintained by the branch of ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. The deceleration of the growth rate to 0.8% was observed also in ‘other non-metallic mineral products’ (+1.2 in June). Prices decreased more significantly in ‘chemicals, chemical products and man-made fibres’ by 0.7% (+0.4% in June).
Construction work prices grew by 0.3%, construction material input prices grew by 0.6%.
Prices of market services in the business sphere fell by 0.9% due to a 1.6% price decrease in ‘real estate, renting and business activities’ (decrease in ‘prices of promotion on TV and radio’ by 17.1%).
Year-on-year comparison:
Agricultural producer prices were higher by 11.3% (+9.1% in June). The prices of crop products grew by 23.7% due to higher prices of cereals (+36.7%); higher were prices of fruit (+ 34.5%), oil-bearing plant (+10,0%) and potatoes (+6.2%). Vegetable prices were lower by 3.6%. Animal product prices fell by 0.5%; lower were prices of pigs (-6.5%) and prices of cattle (-3,6%). Prices of poultry and eggs were higher by 9.1% and 12.0%, respectively.
Prices of industrial producers rose by 4.1% in July (+4.6% in June). Prices in ’basic metals, fabricated metal products’ increased by 7.7% (+8.7% in June), in ‘electricity, gas, steam and water’ by 7.5% (+7.2% in June). Prices in ‘food products, beverages and tobacco’ rose by 3.2% (+3.4% in June), of which the most significant growth was in ‘beverages’ by 4.5% (+4.1% in June), ‘dairy products and ice cream’ by 4.9% (+1.7% in June) and ‘prepared animal feeds’ by 10.8% (+9.2% in June). A significant deceleration of the price growth to 1.9% was recorded in ’other food products’ (+5.4% in June). Prices went down only in ‘transport equipment’ by 0.4% (0.0% in June).
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘intermediate goods’ (+5.1%) and ‘energy’ (+6.7%) increased the most y-o-y.
Construction work prices were up by 3.6% (+3.7% in June). Construction material input prices increased by 6.8% (+7.4% in June).
Prices of market services in the business sphere were higher by 0.8% in total (+1.5% in June). The prices of ‘real estate, renting and business services’ and prices of ‘freight transport, cargo handling and storage services’ grew by 1.1% and 3.0%, respectively.
Industrial producer prices in the EU – June 2007 *
On average for the EU member states (EU 27), according to the data released by Eurostat, industrial producer prices increased by 0.1% in June (+0.2% in May) month-on-month. Among member states for which data are available, prices increased the most in Denmark (+2.3%), Bulgaria (+1.3%) and in Luxembourg (+1.1%). Prices went up in Slovakia by 0.3% and in Germany by 0.2%. Prices decreased m-o-m in Lithuania (-0.6%), in the Netherlands (-0.3%) and in the United Kingdom (-0.2%).
Year-on-year, prices in the EU 27 were higher by 2.2% in June (+2.1% in May). Prices increased the most in Luxembourg (+8.9%), in Lithuania (+7.8%) and in Hungary (+7.2%). Prices went up in Slovakia by 1.3%. Prices decreased only in Germany by 0.6% y-o-y.

Except the construction work price indices, the data published are final. The construction work price indices are refined using the finished quarterly survey and final data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
