Industrial producer prices decreased month-on-month

In August 2007, compared to the previous month, prices of agricultural producers, construction work, market services grew by 3.0%, 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively. Prices of industrial producers fell by 0,1%.
In comparison to August 2006, prices of agricultural producers, industrial producers, construction work and market services were higher by 15,6%, 3,7%, 3,6% and 1,0%, respectively.

Month-on-month comparison:
Agricultural producer prices were higher by 3,0% in total. Prices of crop products grew by 3,0%, higher were prices of vegetables (+12,0%), cereals (+10,9%), oil seeds (+4,7%) and fruit (+4,2%). Prices of potatoes were lower by 30,0%. Prices of animal products increased by 2,9% due to higher prices of pigs, poultry, eggs and milk by 6,2%, 4,5%, 2,0% and 1,8%, respectively.
After seven months of growth, prices of industrial producers decreased by 0.1% (+0.2% in July). Nine braches out of seventeen recorded the drop of prices. The biggest and the most distinct drop occurred in the branch of ‘coke, refined petroleum products’ by 3.8% (+1.1% in July). On the other hand, the price growth was the most significant in ‘food products, beverages and tobacco’ by 1.2% (+0.8% in July). Prices increased the most in ‘prepared animal feeds’ by 6.4%, ‘dairy products and ice cream’ by 2.2% and ‘meat and meat products’ by 1.9%.
Construction work prices grew by 0,3%, construction material input prices grew by 0,1%.
Prices of market services in the business sphere were higher by 0,2% due to 0,3% price increase in real estate, renting and business services (prices of TV and radio advertising services were higher by 3,1%).
Year-on-year comparison:
Agricultural producer prices were higher by 15,6% (+11,3% in July). Prices of crop products grew by 29,1%, due to higher prices of cereals by 52,8%. Prices of oilseeds grew by 17,2% and fruits by 14,5%. Prices of vegetables fell by 5,6% and potatoes by 17,5%. Prices of animal products were higher for the first time since July 2005 (+2,6%). Prices of milk increased by 3,9%, poultry by 12,9%, eggs by 20,0%, respectively. Lower were prices of pigs by 3,6% and cattle by 3,7%, respectively.
Prices of industrial producers rose by 3.7% in August (+4.1% in July). Particularly higher prices of ‘electrical energy, gas, steam and water” (+7.5%, like in July) and ‘basic metals, fabricated metal products’ by 6.9% (+7.7% in July) influence the level of price index on the total. Prices in ‘food products, beverages and tobacco’ increased by 4.0% (+3.2% in July), of these the most prices in ‘prepared animal feeds’ by 17.6%, ‘grain mill products, starches and starch products’ by 14.2% and ‘dairy products and ice cream’ by 7.7%. An important change of trend was observed in ‘coke, refined petroleum products’. Following three months of y-o-y growth (+1.8% in July) prices dropped by 2.1% in August. Prices in ‘transport equipment’ decreased by 0.8% (-0.4% in July). The deceleration of the growth rate or even the fall of prices was recorded in ten branches.
Among the main industrial groupings, prices of ‘intermediate goods’ (+4.8%) and ‘energy’ (+5.6%) increased the most y-o-y.
Construction work prices were higher by 3,6% (much like in July), construction material input prices grew by 5,9% (+6,8% in July)
Prices of market services in the business sphere were higher by 1,0% in total (+0,8% in July). Prices of real estate, renting and business services grew by 1,3 %, prices of freight transport and storage services grew by 3,0%.
Industrial producer prices in the EU – June 2007 *
On average for the EU member states (EU27), according to the data released by Eurostat, industrial producer prices increased by 0.3% in July (+0.2% in June) month-on-month. Among member states for which data are available, prices increased the most in Bulgaria (+2.1%), in the Netherlands (+0.9%) and in Lithuania (+0.8%). Prices went up in Slovakia by 0.5%. Prices decreased in Germany and in Denmark (-0.1% both). Prices remained unchanged in Sweden.
Year-on-year, prices in the EU27 were higher by 1.7% in July (+2.3% in June). Prices increased the most in Bulgaria (+7.7%), in Luxembourg (+7.5%)*, in Lithuania (+6.9%) and in Hungary (+6.2%). Prices went up in Slovakia by 1.3% and in Germany by 1.1%. The only decrease was registered in Denmark (-2.4%).

Except the construction work price indices, the data published are final. The construction work price indices are refined using the finished quarterly survey and final data are released on the 45th calendar day of the following quarter.
