Industry - June 2026

Industrial production was in real terms by 1.2% higher, m-o-m, in June 2026. In the year-on-year comparison, it increased by 4.0%. “Industrial production in June continued to increase. Similarly as in the preceding months, it was increasing in most of the economic activities. The growth rate in June was also influenced by lower production of electricity last year,“ Radek Matějka, Director of the Agricultural and Forestry, Industrial, Construction, and Energy Statistics Department of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says. The following were also higher, year-on-year: manufacture of other transport equipment, especially of rail vehicles or aircraft and parts thereof, the growth also continued in manufacture of fabricated metal products or in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products. Mainly the following had a negative influence on the development of industrial production: pharmaceutical industry and wood processing industry.

The value of new orders at current prices in surveyed industrial CZ-NACE activities in June 2026 increased by 13.1%, y-o-y. New non-domestic orders increased by 19.5%, year-on-year. Domestic new orders recorded an increase by 2.2%. In the month-on-month comparison, the value of new orders was by 6.0% higher. “There was an increase in new orders in most of the surveyed industrial CZ-NACE activities. Significant long-term orders were concluded for manufacture of other transport equipment. The growth also continued in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, or in manufacture of electrical equipment,” Veronika Doležalová, Head of the Industrial Statistics Unit of the CZSO, says. The value of new orders only decreased, year-on-year, in pharmaceutical industry, manufacture of textiles, and of wearing apparel.  

The average registered number of employees in industry decreased by 1.1%, y-o-y, in June 2026.

According to data released by Eurostat, industrial production in the EU27 decreased by 0.3%, year-on-year, in May 2026. The biggest year-on-year decrease was recorded by Ireland (by 19.7%) and Bulgaria (by 4.7%). German industry decreased by 0.8%. Industry of Sweden and Denmark increased the most (both the same by 6.5%). Performance of Czech industry was by 2.0% higher. As for economic activities of industry in the EU27, manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations decreased the most (by 20.6%); the biggest increase was recorded in manufacture of other transport equipment (by 12.2%). According to a preliminary release calendar, Eurostat will release data for June 2026 on 13 August 2026.
