Industrial production increased thanks to manufacture of machinery and transport vehicles

In November 2011, industrial production increased at constant prices by 5.4%, year-on-year. Compared to the previous month seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 2.7%. The value of new orders increased by 4.0%, y-o-y.

In November 2011, industrial production increased at constant prices by 5.4%, y-o-y. Seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 2.7%, month-on-month. These results were influenced by long-term positive development in the automotive industry as well as by cumulative completion of orders with a longer production cycle in machinery and production of heavy transport technology. The following contributed the most to the y-o-y growth of industrial production: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +3.2 percentage point, growth by 17.7%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +1.0 p.p., growth by 12.9%), and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (contribution +0.9 p.p., growth by 10.2%). The deepest decline of industrial production was recorded in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -0.9 p.p., drop by 21.8%), manufacture of food products (contribution -0.3 p.p., drop by 6.4%), and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution -0.1 p.p., drop by 4.6%).

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 6.6%, y-o-y. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 15.0%. Domestic revenues, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises decreased at current prices by 0.7%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 4.0%, y-o-y. Non-domestic new orders grew by 10.6%, while domestic new orders decreased by 6.8%. The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +3.1 p.p., growth by 9.6%), manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +1.0 p.p., increase by 10.9%), and manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +0.7 p.p., growth by 6.2%). The value of new orders decreased in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -1.8 p.p., drop
by 13.9%), manufacture of paper and paper products (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 7.1%), and manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution -0.1 p.p., drop by 1.2%).

The average registered number of employees * ) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased in November 2011 by 1.7%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal wage increased in November 2011 by 2.2%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 29 501.

According to the Eurostat news release published in October 2011, working day adjusted industrial production in the EU27 increased by 1.3%, y-o-y. Data for November 2011 will be released by Eurostat on 12 January 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

Specific methodological notes: * ) The registered number of employees indicator does not include: persons working under various contracts for work, working owners of enterprises and cooperating household members, who do not have contracts of employment. Data on the registered number of employees in industry also exclude agency workers, who have contracts of employment, however, not within the industry.
