Growth of production and orders in industry continued

In July 2010 seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 0.3% compared with June 2010. Industrial production increased by 5.3% compared with July 2009. The value of new orders grew by 10.0%, y-o-y.

In July 2010 industrial production increased by 5.3% compared with July 2009; working days adjusted (WDA) industrial production increased by 10.6%. In July 2010, there were 2 working days less compared with July 2009. After seasonal adjustment (including working days adjustment) industrial production was higher by 0.3%, month-on-month. The annual growth in industrial production was most contributed to by manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +1.4 percentage point, growth by 16.8%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +1.3 p.p., growth by 18.4%), and manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution +1.1 p.p., growth by 36.5%). The highest decline of industrial production was recorded in manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (contribution by -0.4 p.p., drop by 5.6%), manufacture of food products (contribution by -0.3 p.p., drop by 5.9%), and manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials (contribution -0,1 p.p., drop by 4.8%).
Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 7.8% compared with July 2009. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises at current prices increased by 16.1%. Their share in total revenues of industrial enterprises made up 48.3%.
The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 10.0% compared with July 2009 (non-domestic new orders grew by 11.9%). The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution +4.8 percentage point, growth by 34.5%), manufacture of basic metals (contribution +2.9 p.p., growth by 42.4%) and manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +1.6 p.p., growth by 17.8%).
The average registered number of employees in industrial enterprises with 50 or more employees decreased by 2.0% compared with July 2009. Their average monthly nominal wage rose by 2.7% in comparison with July 2009 and reached CZK 24 902.

According to the Eurostat news release published in June 2010, WDA industrial production in the EU 27 increased by 7.7%, y-o-y. Data for July 2010 will by released by Eurostat on 13 September 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
