Direct export sales increased

In April 2013, industrial production increased at constant prices by 0.5%, year-on-year; working day adjusted decreased by 3.4%. Compared to the previous month, seasonally adjusted industrial production was lower by 0.7%. The value of new orders increased by 5.8%, y-o-y.

In April 2013, industrial production increased at constant prices by 0.5%, y-o-y; working day adjusted decreased by 3.4%, y-o-y. April 2013 had 1 working day more compared to April 2012. After seasonal adjustment (including working days adjustment) industrial production was lower by 0.7%, month-on-month. The following contributed the most to the y-o-y increase of industrial production: manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +0.8 p.p., growth by 9.4%), manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +0.7 p.p., growth by 10.8%), and manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +0.6 p.p., growth by 6.6%). Industrial production decreased the most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (contribution -1.0 p.p., drop by 7.0%), manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -0.3 p.p., drop by 14.2%), and manufacture of basic metals (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 7.3%).

Sales from industrial activity at current prices increased by 3.5%, y-o-y, in April 2013. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 8.9%. It is the first y-o-y increase since October 2012. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises decreased at current prices by 1.9%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 5.8%, y-o-y, in April 2013. Non-domestic new orders increased by 8.8%, while domestic new orders increased by 0.5%. The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +2.7 p.p., growth by 7.6%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +1.6 p.p., growth by 13.8%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +1.59 p.p., growth by 14.2%). The value of new orders decreased in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -0.9 p.p., drop by 11.0%), manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -0.4 p.p., drop by 22.1%), and manufacture of basic metals (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 2.8%).

The average registered number of employees * ) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees decreased in April 2013 by 1.3%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal wage increased in April 2013 by 3.8%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 26 902.

According to the Eurostat news release published in March 2013, working day adjusted industrial production in the EU27 decreased by 1.1%, y-o-y. Data for April 2013 will be released by Eurostat on 12 June 2013 at 11 a.m.

*) The registered number of employees indicator does not include persons working under various contracts for work, working owners of enterprises and cooperating household members, who do not have contracts of employment. Data on the registered number of employees in industry also exclude agency workers, who have contracts of employment, however, not within the industry.
