Industrial production increased again, y-o-y

In September 2013, industrial production increased at constant prices by 7.1%, year-on-year. Working days adjusted industrial production increased by 2.0%. Compared to the previous month, seasonally adjusted industrial production was lower by 2.8%. The value of new orders increased by 16.0%, y-o-y.
In September 2013, industrial production increased at constant prices by 7.1%, y-o-y. Working days adjusted (WDA) industrial production increased by 2.0%. There were 2 working days more in September 2013 compared to September 2012. Seasonally adjusted industrial production (including WDA) was lower by 2.8%, m-o-m. The following contributed the most to the y-o-y increase of industrial production: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +2.9% p.p., growth by 17.8%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +1.2 p.p., growth by 13.8%), and manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +1.2 p.p., growth by 16.0%). Industrial production decreased the most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (contribution -0.5 p.p., drop by 4.0%), mining and quarrying (contribution -0.3 p.p., drop by 8.3%), and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution -0.1 p.p., drop by 4.5%).
Sales from industrial activity at current prices increased by 7.9%, y-o-y, in September 2013. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 14.3%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 1.6%.
The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 16.0%, y-o-y, in September 2013. Non-domestic new orders increased by 18.9%, while domestic new orders increased by 10.7%. The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +13.3 p.p., growth by 42.9%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +1.8 p.p., growth by 14.3%), and manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +1.5 p.p., growth by 12.4%). The value of new orders decreased in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution -1.2 p.p., drop by 15.0%), manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 8.7%), and manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 1.7%).
The average registered number of employees * ) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees decreased in September 2013 by 0.9%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal gross wage increased in September 2013 by 2.9%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 25 702.
According to the Eurostat news release published in August 2013, working day adjusted industrial production in the EU28 decreased by 1.6%, y-o-y. According to a preliminary time schedule, data for September 2013 will be released by Eurostat on 13 November 2013 at 11 a.m.
Industry in the Q3 2013
Industrial production in the Q3 2013 increased by 3.7%, y-o-y; WDA industrial production increased by 1.1%. There were 3 working days more in the Q3 2013 compared to the Q3 2012. Seasonally adjusted industrial production was by 2.3% higher, quarter-on-quarter.
Sales from industrial activity at current prices were by 5.5% higher, y-o-y, in the Q3 2013. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 9.7%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 1.3%.
The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 12.5%, y-o-y, in the Q3 2013. New non-domestic orders increased by 14.9%, while domestic new orders grew by 8.0%.
The average registered number of employees *) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees decreased in the Q3 2013 by 1.1%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal wage increased in the Q3 2013 by 2.3%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 26 309.

*) The registered number of employees indicator does not include persons working under various contracts for work, working owners of enterprises and cooperating household members, who do not have contracts of employment. Data on the registered number of employees in industry also exclude agency workers, who have contracts of employment, however, not within the industry.
