Industrial production increased by 4.4% in 2015

In December 2015, industrial production increased at constant prices by 0.7%, year-on-year. Working days adjusted industrial production decreased by 1.7%. Compared to the previous month, seasonally adjusted industrial production was lower by 2.6%. The value of new orders increased by 3.0%, y-o-y.
In 2015, industrial production increased by 4.4%, y-o-y. The value of new orders was by 5.9% higher. Employment increased by 3.4%.
In December 2015, industrial production increased at constant prices by 0.7%, y-o-y; working days adjusted industrial production decreased by 1.7%. December 2015 had 1 working day more compared to December 2014. Seasonally adjusted industrial production (including working days adjustment) was lower by 2.6%, m-o-m. December results were partially influenced by higher taking of company holidays. The following contributed the most to the y-o-y increase of industrial production: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +1.9 p.p., growth by 12.4%), manufacture of rubber and plastic products (contribution +0.4 p.p., growth by 7.6%), and manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +0.4 p.p., growth by 5.0%). Industrial production dropped in manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -0.7 p.p., drop by 22.6%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution -0.6 p.p., drop by 6.4%), and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution -0.4 p.p., drop by 13.3%).
Sales from industrial activity at current prices decreased by 1.4%, y-o-y, in December 2015. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 1.2%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises decreased by 4.2% at current prices.
The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 3.0%, y-o-y, in December 2015. Non-domestic new orders increased by 7.2%, while domestic new orders dropped by 4.3%. The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +4.6 p.p., growth by 13.3%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +0.8 p.p., growth by 7.8%), and manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution +0.8 p.p., growth by 7.2%). New orders decreased in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution -1.5 p.p., drop by 23.7%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution -1.3 p.p., drop by 9.9%), and manufacture of basic metals (contribution -1.0 p.p., drop by 16.0%).
The average registered number of employees*) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased in December 2015 by 3.7%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal gross wage increased in December 2015 by 1.9%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 29 675.
According to the Eurostat news release, working days adjusted industrial production in the EU28 in November 2015 increased by 1.4%, y-o-y. According to a preliminary time schedule, data for December 2015 will be released by Eurostat on 12 February 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
Industry in Q4 2015
Industrial production in the Q4 2015 increased by 3.5%, y-o-y, the working days adjusted increased by 2.7%. In the Q4 2015 there was by 1 working day more than in the Q4 2014. Compared to the Q3 2015, seasonally adjusted industrial production in the Q4 2015 was by 0.2% lower.
Sales from industrial activity at current prices were higher by 0.9%, y-o-y, in the Q4 2015. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 4.4%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises, decreased at current prices by 3.2%.
The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 5.7%, y-o-y, in the Q4 2015. Non-domestic new orders increased by 9.2%, while domestic new orders dropped by 0.6%.
The average registered number of employees*) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased by 3.7%, y-o-y, in the Q4 2015. Their average monthly nominal gross wage in the Q4 2015 increased by 2.7%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 30 058.
Industry in 2015
In 2015, industrial production increased by 4.4%, y-o-y; working days adjusted increased by 4.6%. In 2015, there was by 1 working day less compared to 2014. The following contributed most to the y-o-y growth of industrial production: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +2.0 p.p., growth by 11.5%), manufacture of rubber and plastic products (contribution +0.7 p.p., growth by 9.8%), and manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +0.6 p.p., growth by 6.7%). Industrial production decreased in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (contribution -0.3 p.p., drop by 2.2%), manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 5.7%), and mining and quarrying (contribution -0.1 p.p., drop by 1.7%).
Sales from industrial activity at current prices were higher by 2.5%, y-o-y, in 2015. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 5.7%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises, decreased at current prices by 1.3%.
The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 5.9%, y-o-y, in 2015. Non-domestic new orders increased by 8.0%, while domestic new orders increased by 2.1%.
The average registered number of employees*) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased by 3.4%, y-o-y, in 2015. Their average monthly nominal gross wage in 2015 increased by 2.6%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 28 344.

*) The registered number of employees indicator does not include persons working under various contracts for work, working owners of enterprises, and cooperating household members, who do not have contracts of employment. Data on the registered number of employees in industry also exclude agency workers, who have contracts of employment within activities of services (CZ-NACE 78.2).
