On the other hand, many economic industries, for example, manufacture of food products, reported in July a year-on-year growth,” Radek Matějka, Director of the Agricultural and Forestry, Industrial, Construction, and Energy Statistics Department of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says. Production continued to decrease in manufacture of basic metals (mainly of black and brown coal) and also in manufacture of machinery and equipment in which, however, the value of new orders increased in July.

However, an overall year-on-year decrease of their value, similarly as a decrease in production, was the most influenced by car production; a higher comparison basis was also partially reflected there,” Veronika Doležalová, Head of the Industrial Statistics Unit of the CZSO, says.

The average registered number of employees in industry decreased by 1.9%, y-o-y, in July 2024.
