Industrial production and orders increased, year-on-year

Industrial production increased in real terms by 1.1%, year-on-year (y-o-y), in October. In the month-on-month (m-o-m) comparison, it was by 0.1% lower. The value of new orders increased by 2.9%, y-o-y.

Industrial production in October was in real terms by 0.1% lower, m-o-m. In the year-on-year comparison, it increased by 1.1%. “The increase in industrial production in October was the most contributed to by manufacture of fabricated metal products, manufacture of machinery and equipment, and manufacture of rubber and plastic products, e.g. tyres. In the month-on-month comparison, production stagnated,” Radek Matějka, Director of the Agricultural and Forestry, Industrial, Construction, and Energy Statistics Department of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says. Growth continued, for example, also in manufacture of basic metals. As for the development of industrial production, the following industries (economic activities) contributed the most in the opposite direction: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and mining and quarrying.

The value of new orders at current prices in surveyed industrial CZ-NACE activities in October 2025 increased by 2.9%, y-o-y. Non-domestic new orders increased by 6.5%, y-o-y. Domestic new orders recorded a decrease by 3.5%. In the month-on-month comparison, the value of new orders was by 1.8% lower. “The year-on-year growth of the value of new industrial orders in October was dominantly contributed to by manufacture of other transport equipment, where important long-term non-domestic orders were concluded,” Veronika Doležalová, Head of the Industrial Statistics Unit of the CZSO, says. On the other hand, the value of new orders decreased, for example, in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, and manufacture of textiles.  

The average registered number of employees in industry decreased by 1.4%, y-o-y, in October 2025.

According to data released by Eurostat, industrial production in the EU27 increased by 2.0%, year-on-year, in September 2025. The industry of Sweden and Denmark increased the most (by 14.7% and 9.5%, respectively). Czech industry increased by 0.8%. The biggest year-on-year decrease was recorded by Bulgaria (by 5.6%). Performance of German industry decreased by 0.8%. As for economic activities in the EU27, the biggest increase was recorded by manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (by 11.0%); the biggest decrease was recorded by manufacture of leather and related products (by 7.3%). According to a preliminary release calendar, Eurostat will release data for October 2025 on 15 December 2025. 

Notes

October 2025 had the same number of working days as October 2024. In accordance with the CZSO’s revision policy, data for July to September 2025 have been revised concurrently with the processing of data for October 2025.
The year-on-year development of all indicators is published after having been adjusted for the influence of the number of working days. Month-on-month or quarter-on-quarter rates have also been seasonally adjusted. Contributions to an increase or to a decrease have been calculated from data that had been adjusted for working days.
