Industrial production and orders increased in July

Industrial production increased in real terms by 1.8%, year-on-year (y-o-y), in July. In the month-on-month (m-o-m) comparison, it was by 0.8% higher. The value of new orders increased by 6.6%, y-o-y.

Industrial production in July was in real terms by 0.8% higher, m-o-m. In the year-on-year comparison, it increased by 1.8%. “The industrial production increased in July. The increase was the most contributed to by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and by manufacture of rubber and plastic products, especially tyres,” Radek Matějka, Director of the Agricultural and Forestry, Industrial, Construction, and Energy Statistics Department of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says. Also enterprises in the economic activity of manufacture of fabricated metal products or in manufacture of electrical equipment recorded growth. Partially owing to a lower comparison basis, coal mining increased, year-on-year. Especially the following contributed in a negative way to the development of industrial production in July: manufacture of other transport equipment, manufacture of beverages, and manufacture of textiles

The value of new orders at current prices in surveyed industrial CZ-NACE activities in July 2025 increased by 6.6%, y-o-y. Non-domestic new orders increased by 2.9%, y-o-y. Domestic new orders recorded an increase by 13.0%. In the month-on-month comparison, the value of new orders was by 2.9% higher. “Growth of new industrial orders was influenced the most by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers. Their value in this economic activity increased by 15%, year-on-year, due to a low comparison basis. Important long-term orders were concluded by enterprises in manufacture of other transport equipment,” Veronika Doležalová, Head of the Industrial Statistics Unit of the CZSO, says. The value of new orders decreased, year-on-year, in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, in manufacture of basic metals, and in manufacture of machinery and equipment.

The average registered number of employees in industry decreased by 1.9%, y-o-y, in July 2025.

According to data released by Eurostat, industrial production in the EU27 increased by 0.5%, year-on-year, in June 2025. The industry of Sweden and Ireland increased the most (by 13.4% and by 10.5%, respectively). Performance of Czech industry increased by 0.2%. The biggest year-on-year decrease was recorded by Bulgaria (by 8.2%) and Hungary (by 4.9%). Industrial production in Germany decreased by 3.8%. As for economic activities in the EU27, the biggest increase was recorded by manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (by 15.2%); the biggest decrease was recorded by manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (by 8.4%). According to a preliminary release calendar, Eurostat will release data for July 2025 on 16 September 2025.

July 2025 had by 1 working day more than July 2024. In compliance with the CZSO Data revision policy, concurrently with processing of data for July 2025, data for April through June 2025 have been revised.
The year-on-year development of all indicators is published after having been adjusted for the influence of the number of working days. Month-on-month or quarter-on-quarter rates have also been seasonally adjusted. Contributions to an increase or to a decrease have been calculated from data that had been adjusted for working days.
