Industrial production increased

In July 2012, industrial production increased at constant prices by 4.2%, year-on-year. Compared to the previous month seasonally adjusted industrial production was higher by 1.1%. The value of new orders increased by 16.0%, y-o-y.

In July 2012, industrial production increased at constant prices by 4.2%, y-o-y. Working days adjusted (WDA) industrial production increased by 1.7%, y-o-y. There was one working day more in July 2012 compared to the same month of 2011. Seasonally adjusted industrial production (as well as WDA) was higher by 1.1%, m-o-m. Results in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities were partially influenced by movement of company holidays during both June and July.

The following contributed the most to the y-o-y growth of industrial production: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +1.4 p.p., growth by 7.5%), manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +1.2 p.p., growth by 19.7%), and manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +0.9 p.p., growth by 10.1%). Industrial production decreased the most in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -0.3 p.p., drop by 8.6%), manufacture of basic metals (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 5.3%), and manufacture of furniture (contribution -0.1 p.p., drop by 8.8%).

Sales from industrial activity at current prices increased by 5.8%, y-o-y. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 9.4%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 2.3%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 16.0%, y-o-y. Non-domestic new orders increased by 22.7%, while domestic new orders increased only by 4.1%. The positive development of new orders was influenced also by a markedly lower comparison basis of the previous year. The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +11.4 p.p., growth by 41.6%), manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution +1.7 p.p., growth by 13.7%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +1.3 p.p., growth by 10.1%). The value of new orders decreased in manufacture of basic metals (contribution -0.5 p.p., drop by 4.6%), manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -0.5 p.p., drop by 26.1%), and manufacture of wearing apparel (contribution -0.03 p.p., drop by 4.5%).

The average registered number of employees * ) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees decreased in July 2012 by 0.6%. Their average monthly nominal wage increased in July 2012 by 4.5%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 26 436.

According to the Eurostat news release published in June 2012, working day adjusted industrial production in the EU27 decreased by 2.2%, y-o-y. Data for July 2012 will be released by Eurostat on 12 September 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

Industry since the beginning of 2012

Industrial production since the beginning of 2012 increased by 1.1%, y-o-y. The y-o-y growth of industrial production was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +1.6 p.p., growth by 7.9%), manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +0.4 p.p., growth by 7.5%), and manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +0.4 p.p., growth by 4.8%). Industrial production decreased the most in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -0.4 p.p., drop by 12.1%), manufacture of basic metals (contribution -0.3 p.p., drop by 6.3%), and manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 3.3%).

Sales from industrial activity at current prices were from January to July 2012 higher by 3.6%, y-o-y. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 5.8%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 1.5%.

New orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased from January to July 2012 by 5.6%, y-o-y. Non-domestic new orders increased by 9.9%, while domestic new orders dropped by 2.2%. The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +5.6 p.p., growth by 17.8%), manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution +1.0 p.p., growth by 15.1%) and manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +0.4 p.p., growth by 3.4%). New orders dropped in manufacture of basic metals (contribution -0.7 p.p., drop by 7.5%), manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -0.6 p.p., drop by 5.1%), and manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -0.4 p.p., drop by 22.7%).

The average registered number of employees * ) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased from January to July 2012 by 0.1%. Their average monthly nominal wage increased from January to July 2012 by 3.9%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 26 184.

*) The registered number of employees indicator does not include persons working under various contracts for work, working owners of enterprises and cooperating household members, who do not have contracts of employment. Data on the registered number of employees in industry also exclude agency workers, who have contracts of employment, however, not within the industry.
