Y-o-y production growth decelerated

In September 2015, industrial production increased at constant prices by 0.6%, year-on-year. Working days adjusted industrial production increased by 3.1%. Compared to the previous month, seasonally adjusted industrial production was higher by 2.6%. The value of new orders increased by 0.7%, y-o-y.
In September 2015, industrial production increased at constant prices by 0.6%, y-o-y; working days adjusted industrial production increased by 3.1%. September 2015 had 1 working day less compared to September 2014. Seasonally and working days adjusted industrial production was higher by 2.6%, m-o-m. The following contributed the most to the y-o-y increase of industrial production: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +1.7 p.p., growth by 9.8%), manufacture of rubber and plastic products (contribution +0.6 p.p., growth by 8.2%), and manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +0.5 p.p., growth by 5.8%). Development of industrial production was negatively influenced by temporary shutdowns of operation in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (contribution -2.1 p.p., drop by 18.7%) and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution -0.6 p.p., drop by 18.7%). The y-o-y drop was also contributed to by manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -0.2 p.p., drop by 12.9%).
Sales from industrial activity at current prices decreased by 1.0%, y-o-y, in September 2015. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 2.3%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises decreased by 5.1% at current prices.
The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 0.7%, y-o-y, in September 2015. Non-domestic new orders increased by 5.5%, while domestic new orders decreased by 7.5%. The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +1.1 p.p., growth by 2.7%), manufacture of fabricated metal products (contribution +0.5 p.p., growth by 4.4%), and manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +0.3 p.p., growth by 2.7%). New orders decreased in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution -1.5 p.p., drop by 23.2%), manufacture of basic metals (contribution -0.7 p.p., drop by 10.6%), and manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution -0.02 p.p., drop by 1.6%).
The average registered number of employees*) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased in September 2015 by 3.2%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal gross wage increased in September 2015 by 3.9%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 27 435.
According to the Eurostat news release working day adjusted industrial production in the EU28 in August 2015 increased by 1.9%, y-o-y. According to a preliminary time schedule, data for September 2015 will be released by Eurostat on 12 November 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
Industry in the third quarter of 2015
Industrial production in the Q3 2015 increased by 3.6%, y-o-y; working days adjusted industrial production increased by 5.4%. There were 2 working days less in Q3 2015 than in Q3 2014. Compared to the Q2 2015, seasonally adjusted industrial production was by 0.2% lower.
Sales from industrial activity at current prices increased by 0.9%, y-o-y, in the Q3 2015. Direct export sales of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 5.0%. Domestic sales, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises decreased by 4.1% at current prices.
New orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 3.3%, y-o-y, in the Q3 2015. Non-domestic new orders increased by 8.0%, while domestic new orders decreased by 5.1%.
The average registered number of employees*) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased in the Q3 2015 by 3.2%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal gross wage increased in the Q3 2015 by 3.1%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 27 565.

*) The registered number of employees indicator does not include persons working under various contracts for work, working owners of enterprises, and cooperating household members, who do not have contracts of employment. Data on the registered number of employees in industry also exclude agency workers, who have contracts of employment within activities of services (CZ-NACE 78.2).
