Industrial production in June was in real terms by 1.1% lower, m-o-m. In the year-on-year comparison, it increased by 0.2%. “The industrial production stagnated, year-on-year, in June. A slightly positive result was mainly supported by an increase in manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and related economic activities: manufacture of rubber tyres and manufacture of electrical equipment,” Radek Matějka, Director of the Agricultural and Forestry, Industrial, Construction, and Energy Statistics Department of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says. Also enterprises in the economic activity of manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products recorded growth (especially as for products determined for construction). A negative influence on the development of industrial production in June came especially from electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, where electricity production decreased mainly in coal power plants. A decrease also continued in other economic activities of manufacturing: in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, manufacture of machinery and equipment, and manufacture of wearing apparel, footwear and leather products.
The value of new orders at current prices in surveyed industrial CZ-NACE activities in June 2025 decreased by 3.3%, y-o-y. Non-domestic new orders decreased by 6.0%, y-o-y. Domestic new orders recorded an increase by 1.7%. In the month-on-month comparison, the value of new orders was by 2.9% lower. “The value of new industrial orders decreased mainly in manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers. A decrease continued in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, manufacture of basic metals, and in manufacture of wearing apparel,” Veronika Doležalová, Head of the Industrial Statistics Unit of the CZSO, says. On the other hand, the value of new orders increased, year-on-year, in manufacture of fabricated metal products and in manufacture of electrical equipment.
The average registered number of employees in industry decreased by 1.9%, y-o-y, in June 2025.
According to data released by Eurostat, industrial production in the EU27 increased by 3.4%, year-on-year, in May 2025. The industry of Ireland and Finland increased the most (by 40.7% and 5.9%, respectively). Performance of Czech industry increased by 2.2%. Industrial production in Germany increased by 1.9%.
