Growth of industrial production was kept by automotive industry

In July 2011, industrial production increased at constant prices by 4.4%, year-on-year, after working day adjustment it increased by 6.8%. Compared to the previous month, seasonally adjusted industrial production was higher by 0.1%. The value of new orders grew by 1.1%, y-o-y.

In July 2011, industrial production increased at constant prices by 4.4%, y-o-y, working day adjusted (WDA) increased by 6.8%. There was 1 working day less in July 2011 than in July 2010. Seasonally adjusted (including WDA) industrial production increased by 0.1%, month-on-month. The following contributed the most to the y-o-y growth of industrial production: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +5.4 percentage points, growth by 38.4%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +0.6 p.p., growth +7.9%), and manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution +0.4 p.p., growth by 7.1%). The deepest decline of industrial production was recorded in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (contribution -0.8 p.p., drop by 9.5%), manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (contribution -0.5 p.p., decrease by 8.5%), and manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials (contribution -0.5 p.p., drop by 16.0%).

Revenues from industrial activity at current prices increased by 5.4%, y-o-y. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises increased at current prices by 15.4%. Domestic revenues, which include also indirect export via non-industrial enterprises decreased at current prices by 2.9%.

The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities increased by 1.1%, y-o-y. Non-domestic new orders grew by 8.1%, while domestic new orders decreased by 9.4%. The y-o-y growth of new orders in total was the most contributed to by the following CZ-NACE divisions: manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +2.6 p.p., growth by 10.3%), manufacture of basic metals (contribution +1.5 p.p., growth by 17.1%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution +0.9 p.p., growth by 7.8%). The value of new orders decreased in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (contribution -3.9 p.p., drop by 23.7%), manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution -0.5 p.p., drop by 4.8%), and manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (contribution -0.4 p.p., drop by 22.0%).

The average registered number of employees * ) in industrial enterprises with 50+ employees increased in July 2011 by 3.2%, y-o-y. Their average monthly nominal wage increased in July 2011 by 2.0%, y-o-y, and reached CZK 25 355.

According to the Eurostat news release published in June 2011, working day adjusted industrial production in the EU27 increased by 1.7%, y-o-y. Data for July 2011 will be released by Eurostat on 14 September 2011 at 11:00 a.m.

Specific methodological notes: * ) The registered number of employees indicator does not include: persons working under various contracts for work, working owners of enterprises and cooperating household members, who do not have contracts of employment. Data on the registered number of employees in industry also exclude agency workers, who have contracts of employment, however, not within the industry.
