Industry - July 2026

Industrial production was in real terms by 1.1% lower, m-o-m, in July 2026. In the year-on-year comparison, it increased by 3.1%. “Industrial production in July increased again, year-on-year. A y-o-y growth was recorded by industry already for the eighteenth successive month. Similarly as in the preceding months, production increased in most of the economic activities. Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply contributed the most to the growth,“ Radek Matějka, Director of the Agricultural and Forestry, Industrial, Construction, and Energy Statistics Department of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says. Production increased, y-o-y, also in the following: manufacture of electrical equipment, manufacture of basic metals, and manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products. A moderate decrease was recorded by manufacture of rubber and plastic products and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products. A decrease in mining and quarrying continued.

The value of new orders at current prices in surveyed industrial CZ-NACE activities in July 2026 increased by 7.2%, y-o-y. New non-domestic orders increased by 15.7%, year-on-year. Domestic new orders recorded a decrease by 6.6%. In the month-on-month comparison, the value of new orders was by 3.2% lower. “The value of new industrial orders increased in July, year-on-year, in vast majority of the surveyed industrial CZ-NACE activities. The growth was supported the most by the following three strong industries of manufacturing – manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, manufacture of electrical equipment, and manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products,” Veronika Doležalová, Head of the Industrial Statistics Unit of the CZSO, says. A decrease in the value of new orders by almost a quarter in manufacture of other transport equipment was influenced by a higher level last year.

The average registered number of employees in industry decreased by 1.0%, y-o-y, in July 2026.

According to data released by Eurostat, industrial production in the EU27 increased by 0.6%, year-on-year, in June 2026. Industry of Lithuania and Denmark increased the most (by 7.7% and 6.1%, respectively). Performance of Czech industry was higher by 3.8%. The biggest year-on-year decrease was recorded by Luxembourg (by 7.9%) and Romania (by 5.6%). German industry decreased by 0.5%. As for economic activities of industry in the EU27, the following recorded the biggest increase: manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products and manufacture of other transport equipment (both by 6.5%). Manufacture of leather and related products decreased the most (by 7.8%). According to a preliminary release calendar, Eurostat will release data for July 2026 on 16 September 2026.
