In September 2009 seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased by 1.4% compared with August 2009. Industrial production fell by 11.9% compared with September 2008.
In September 2009 seasonally adjusted construction output increased by 2.4% compared with August 2009. Construction output increased by 3.6% compared with September 2008.

Industry
In September 2009 industrial production declined by 11.9% compared with September 2008. Working days adjusted the industrial production dropped by 9.7%. September 2009 had one working day less compared with September 2008. Seasonally adjusted (plus WDA) the industrial production was 1.4% down compared to August 2009. The annual decline in industrial production was most contributed to by manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution -2.8 p.p., drop by 28.4%), manufacture of metal structures and fabricated metal products (contribution -2.0 p.p., drop by 22.3%) and manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (contribution -1.5%, drop by 22.8%). Industrial production grew in of food, beverages and tobacco (contribution +0.1 p.p., growth by 3.5%), mining of coal and lignite (contribution +0.02 p.p., growth by 0.9%) and manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (contribution +0.01 p.p., growth by 0.5%).
Revenues from industrial activity at current prices fell by 16.2% compared with September 2008. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises at current prices decreased by 13.4%. Their share in total revenues of industrial enterprises made up 49.6%.
The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities declined by 13.8% compared with September 2008 (non-domestic new orders fell by 10.9%). The y-o-y drop of total new orders was most contributed to by manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products; casting of metals (contribution -4.0%, drop by 39.7%), manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution -3.7 p.p., drop by 27.5%) and manufacture of metal structures and fabricated metal products (contribution -2.9%, drop by 21.4%). New orders grew only in manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +1.4 p.p., growth by 5.1%) and manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution +0.3 p.p., growth by 24.2%).
The average registered number of employees in industrial enterprises with 50 or more employees decreased by 14.6% compared with September 2008. Their average monthly nominal wage rose by 6.9% compared with September 2008 and reached CZK 23 460.
Construction
In September 2009 construction output increased by 3.6% at constant prices compared with September 2008, working days adjusted construction output raised by 4.6%. September 2009 had one working day less compared to September 2008. Seasonally adjusted construction output was 2.4% up in September, m-o-m. Building construction output continued decreasing (contribution –3.5 p.p., drop by 5.2%) and civil engineering output growing (contribution +7.1 p.p., growth by 23.0%).
The average registered number of employees in construction enterprises with 50 or more employees dropped by 0.2% compared with September 2008. Their average monthly nominal wage increased by 6.1% compared with September 2008 and reached CZK 27 617.

According to the Eurostat news release, WDA industrial production in the EU 27 declined by 13.5% in August 2009, compared with August 2008. The data for September 2009 will be released by Eurostat at 11:00 a.m. on 12 November 2009.
According to the Eurostat news release, WDA construction output in the EU 27 dropped by 11.1% in August 2009. compared with August 2008. Building construction fell by 15.0% and civil engineering increased by 5.2%. The data for September 2009 will be released by Eurostat at 11:00 a.m. on 18 November 2009.

Industry
Industrial production in Q3 2009 fell by 13.0%, compared to Q3 2008, working day adjusted it fell by 11.4%. Q3 2009 had two working days less than Q3 2008. The year-on-year drop of the industrial production was most contributed to by manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution -2.7 p.p., drop by 28.4%), manufacture of metal structures and fabricated metal products (contribution -2.1 p.p., drop by 22.7%) and manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (contribution -1.4%, drop by 20.5%). Industrial production grew in food products, beverages and tobacco (contribution +0.2 p.p., growth by 4.2%).
Revenues from industrial activity at current prices fell by 16.3% compared to Q3 2008. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises at current prices decreased by 14.1% compared to Q3 2008.
The average registered number of employees in industrial enterprises with 50 or more employees decreased by 13.8% compared to Q3 2008. The biggest drop was recorded in manufacture of textiles (-24.8%), manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products; casting of metals (-22.6%), manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (-21.9%) and manufacture wearing apparel (-21.2%). Their average monthly nominal wage increased by 4.9% compared to Q3 2008 to reach CZK 23 554.
The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities declined by 16.2% compared to Q3 2008. Non-domestic new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities fell by 14.4% compared to Q3 2008.
Construction
Construction output in Q3 2009 at constant prices increased by 0.1% compared to Q3 2008, working day adjusted it increased by 1.0%. Q3 2009 had two working days less compared to Q3 2008. Civil engineering output recorded an increase by 16.7% compared to Q3 2008 and building construction output dropped by 7.1%.
The average registered number of employees in construction enterprises with 50 or more employees increased by 0.2% in Q3 2009 compared to Q3 2008. Their average monthly nominal wage increased by 4.5% compared to Q3 2008 and reached CZK 27 570.
