Industrial production dropped by 0.1%, construction was 7.8% up, y-o-y

In November 2009 seasonally adjusted industrial production dropped by 0.3% compared with October 2009. Industrial production fell by 0.1% compared with November 2008.
In November 2009 seasonally adjusted construction output increased by 2.8% compared with October 2009. Construction output increased by 7.8% compared with November 2008.

Industry
In November 2009 industrial production declined by 0.1% compared with November 2008. Working days adjusted industrial production dropped by 2.5%. November 2009 had one working day more compared with November 2008. Seasonally adjusted (plus WDA) the industrial production was 0.3% down compared to October 2009. The annual decline in industrial production was most contributed to by manufacture of machinery and equipment (contribution -1.8 p.p., drop by 19.8%), manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (contribution -0.9 p.p., drop by 15.1%) and manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution -0.7%, drop 11.5%). Industrial production grew most in manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +3.0 p.p., growth by 21.5%), manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco (contribution +0.6 p.p., growth by 13.5%) and manufacture of rubber and plastic products (contribution +0.5 p.p., growth by 8.2%).
Revenues from industrial activity at current prices fell by 3.1% compared with November 2008. Direct export revenues of industrial enterprises at current prices decreased by 0.9%. Their share in total revenues of industrial enterprises made up 46.9%.
The value of new orders in selected industrial CZ-NACE activities raised by 8.0% compared with November 2008 (non-domestic new orders increased by 11.0%). The annual growth of total new orders was most contributed to by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (contribution +5.7 p.p., growth by 20.5%), manufacture of other transport equipment (contribution +2.5 p.p., growth by 238.1%) and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (contribution +1.4%, growth by 20.3%). New orders dropped in manufacture of metal structures and fabricated metal products (contribution -1.9 p.p., drop by 13.8%), manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, casting of metals (contribution -1.4%, drop by 16.9%) and manufacture of electrical equipment (contribution -0.1%, drop by 0.7%).
The average registered number of employees in enterprises with 50 or more employees decreased by 12.5% compared with November 2008. Their average monthly nominal wage rose by 7.5% compared with November 2008 and reached CZK 27 220.
Construction
In November 2009 construction output increased by 7.8% at constant prices compared with November 2008, working days adjusted construction output raised by 6.4%. November 2009 had one working day more compared to November 2008. Seasonally adjusted construction output was 2.8% up in November, m-o-m. Exceptionally favourable weather conditions enabled to perform all construction works like in summer months (average daily temperature in November 2009 was by 2.8º C higher compared to the long-term average and by 0.9ºC up compared to November 2008). The y-o-y growth of construction output was most contributed to by civil engineering (contribution +5.6 p.p., growth by 16.3%). Also the building construction output registered an increase after 13 months (contribution +2.2 p.p., growth by 3.4%).
The average registered number of employees in construction enterprises with 50 or more employees dropped by 1.1% compared with November 2009. Their average monthly nominal wage increased by 5.6% compared with November 2008 and reached CZK 32 670.

According to the Eurostat news release, WDA industrial production in the EU 27 declined by 10,2% in October 2009, compared with October 2008. The data for November 2009 will be released by Eurostat at 11:00 a.m. on 14 January 2010.
According to the Eurostat news release, WDA construction output in the EU 27 dropped by 6.9% in October 2009 compared with October 2008. Building construction fell by 9.9% and civil engineering increased by 5.5%. The data for November 2009 will be released by Eurostat at 11:00 a.m. on 19 January 2010.
