Construction - June 2026

The construction output was by 0.3% lower, month-on-month, in June. In the y-o-y comparison, it increased by 2.0%. The production in the building construction increased by 6.3% and civil engineering construction decreased by 5.3%, year-on-year.

“The growth of construction output was driven by building construction in June, whereas civil engineering construction decreased, year-on-year, to a great extent due to a high comparison basis,” Radek Matějka, Director of the Agricultural and Forestry, Industrial, Construction, and Energy Statistics Department of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says.

In June 2026, 5 545 building permits were granted and the number increased by 1.8%, y-o-y. The floor area in new building construction increased by 76.3%, y-o-y.

In June 2026, construction of 4 013 dwellings started and the number increased by 52.9%, y-o-y. “The numbers of started dwellings increased in June in both the main categories. While family houses reached the highest figure for the last four years, the year-on-year growth of dwellings started in multi-dwelling buildings was rather a consequence of their lower level last June,” Petra Cuřínová, Head of the Construction Statistics Unit of the CZSO, says. The number of completed dwellings amounted to 2 699, which was a y-o-y decrease by 17.8%.

According to Eurostat data, the construction output in the EU27 in May 2026 increased by 1.8%, year-on-year. According to a preliminary release calendar, Eurostat will release data for June 2026 on 20 August 2026.
