The construction output increased by 0.4%, year-on-year (y-o-y), in August. In the month-on-month (m-o-m) comparison, it was by 1.6% lower. The approximate value of permitted constructions decreased by 1.2%. The number of started dwellings decreased by 11.3%, year-on-year. The number of completed dwellings decreased by 19.9%, y-o-y.

Construction output was by 1.6% lower, month-on-month, in August; in the year-on-year comparison, it increased by 0.4%. “In August, construction output was stagnating, year-on-year. More successful was the civil engineering construction, the production of which increased by 5.3%. The production in building construction decreased by 2.3%, y-o-y,” Petra Cuřínová, Head of the Construction Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says.

The approximate value of constructions for which a building permit was granted in August reached CZK 49.5 billion and in the year-on-year comparison it decreased by 1.2%.

Construction of 2 753 dwellings started in August. The number decreased by 11.3%, year-on-year. The number of completed dwellings amounted to 2 238, which was a year-on-year decrease by 19.9%.

According to Eurostat, construction output in the EU27 in July 2024 decreased by 2.4%, y-o-y. According to a preliminary release calendar, Eurostat will release data for August 2024 on 18 October 2024.
