Construction - June 2025

Construction output was by 2.6% higher, month-on-month, in June; in the year-on-year comparison, it increased by 14.0%. Production in building construction increased by 10.3%, y-o-y, and the civil engineering construction increased by 20.3%, y-o-y. “In June, construction output continued in its double-digit growth. It was driven by the civil engineering construction, however, the building construction wasn’t left behind, either,” Radek Matějka, Director of the Agricultural and Forestry, Industrial, Construction, and Energy Statistics Department of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says.

“The approximate value of constructions for which a building permit was granted dropped by 9.5% in June, especially in new constructions. The decrease took place rather in the segment of large constructions with the budget over CZK one billion; in smaller constructions, the approximate value dropped by 2%,” Petra Cuřínová, Head of the Construction Statistics Unit of the CZSO, says.

Construction of 2 637 dwellings started in June 2025 and the number decreased by 2.5%, year-on-year. The number of completed dwellings amounted to 3 775, which was a year-on-year growth by 40.0%.

According to Eurostat data, the construction output in the EU27 in May 2025 increased by 2.7%, year-on-year. According to a preliminary release calendar, Eurostat will release data for June 2025 on 21 August 2025.
