Construction output increased by 1.8%, month-on-month, in November. “The year-on-year increase of construction output by 2.5% was influenced, to a certain extent, by a low comparison basis from November 2023, when the highest average precipitation total for November has been recorded since the year 1961,” Petra Cuřínová, Head of the Construction Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says. Production in building construction increased by 1.9% and in civil engineering construction by 3.4%, year-on-year.

The approximate value of constructions, for which a building permit was granted in November, reached CZK 43.0 bn and increased by 2.6%, y-o-y.

Construction of 3 600 dwellings started in November and the number increased by 62.4%, year-on-year. “The number of dwellings started increased thanks to the category of multi-dwelling buildings, in which the number of dwellings increased four times. Most of those dwellings will be built in Prague and in the Jihomoravský Region,” Radek Matějka, Director of the Agricultural and Forestry, Industrial, Construction, and Energy Statistics Department of the CZSO, explains. 2 282 dwellings were completed, which was a year-on-year decrease by 38.1%.

According to data of Eurostat, construction output in the EU27 in October 2024 decreased by 0.8%, year-on-year. According to a preliminary release calendar, Eurostat will release data for November 2024 on 20 January 2025.
