Publication Date: 07. 05. 2025
Product Code: 200035-25
The construction output was by 3.5% higher, m-o-m, in March; in the y-o-y comparison, it increased by 12.1%. The production in the building construction increased by10.4% and the civil engineering construction increased by 16.2%, y-o-y. “In March, the construction output was increasing with a double-digit growth rate both in the civil engineering construction and in the building construction. Warmer weather and a low comparison basis partially contributed to the growth,” Petra Cuřínová, Head of the Construction Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says.
The approximate value of constructions for which a building permit was granted in March reached CZK 41.2 billion and decreased by 37.2%, year-on-year. “The year-on-year decrease of the approximate value of permitted constructions was influenced by a high comparison basis. After having modelled deduction of constructions with budgets over CZK 1 billion, the approximate value would be on the level of March 2024,” Radek Matějka, Director of the Agricultural and Forestry, Industrial, Construction, and Energy Statistics Department of the CZSO, explains.
In March 2025, construction of 3 137 dwellings started and the number increased by 15.9%, y-o-y, thanks to multi-dwelling buildings. The number of completed dwellings amounted to 3 699, which was an increase by 44.7%, year-on-year, as a consequence of additional download of data for January and February.
According to Eurostat data, the construction output in the EU27 in February 2025 increased by 0.3%, year-on-year. According to a preliminary release calendar, Eurostat will release data for March 2025 on 20 May 2025.
More detailed information on the development in construction can be found in the supplementary information to the news release on construction.
Notes
