Construction output increased, year-on-year

“Construction output increased, year-on-year, in July; the growth was driven by engineering construction. Building construction remained slightly under the level of July 2023,” Radek Matějka, Director of the Agricultural and Forestry, Industrial, Construction, and Energy Statistics Department of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says.
Construction output was by 6.9% higher, month-on-month, in July; in the year-on-year comparison, it increased by 2.0%. The production in building construction decreased by 0.9%, y-o-y, and the civil engineering construction increased by 7.1%, y-o-y.
The approximate value of constructions for which a building permit was granted in July reached CZK 39.4 billion and in the year-on-year comparison it decreased by 2.1%.
Construction of 2 806 dwellings started in July. The number decreased by 5.5%, year-on-year. The number of completed dwellings amounted to 2 719, which was a year-on-year decrease by 7.2%.
According to Eurostat, construction output in the EU27 in June 2024 decreased by 0.1%, year-on-year. According to a preliminary release calendar, Eurostat will release data for July 2024 on 18 September 2024.
Notes
The year-on-year development of construction output (production) has been adjusted for the influence of the number of working days. Month-on-month rates have also been seasonally adjusted.
