Graph Development of the construction output month-on-month

Year-on-year, total construction output rose by 13.8% at constant prices.

Higher growth of construction output in October 2005 was achieved in all segments of construction work. The main reasons for the higher growth were:
- sufficient numbers of unfinished projects enabled builders to develop fully all kinds of construction work, in particular work on transport infrastructure and housing construction;
- finishing work on a number of projects of building and civil engineering reached a peak;
- good weather conditions in October 2005.

Employment in construction enterprises with 20+ employees grew by 5.6 %. The average monthly wage of employees increased by 3.8 % year-on-year and reached CZK 19 282, the real wage increased by 1.2 %. The average hourly wage increased by 2.4 % and stood at CZK 127. Labour productivity per employee went up by 6.7 % and labour productivity per hour worked increased by 5.4 %. Unit wage costs decreased by 2.7 %
The planning and building control authorities granted 13 301 building permits in October 2005 (of which 7 420 for new constructions and 5 881 for renewals and enhancements). The approximate value of constructions permitted in October reached CZK 23.4 billion (of which new constructions made up CZK 16.4 billion and renewals and enhancements CZK 7.0 billion).
While the number of building permits granted dropped by 3.1%, the approximate value of permitted constructions fell by 19.5% (both figures year-on-year) due to the high comparing basis of October 2004 when further permits were granted for financially demanding construction of highways.

The planning and building control authorities permitted 3 326 dwellings to be constructed, which was by 38 dwellings more year-on-year. Out of that, 2 872 dwellings will be built as new constructions (+129 year-on-year). The number of new dwellings obtained by renewals and enhancements should reach 454 (-91 year-on-year). The approximate value of the newly permitted dwellings in multi-dwelling buildings reached CZK 6.7 billion. The average approximate value of a dwelling in a new residential building stood at CZK 2.2 million, which translates into CZK 17.1 thousand per m2 of floor space, the average size of dwelling being 126 m2. The average approximate value of a dwelling obtained by renewal or enhancement of an existing residential building was CZK 1.5 million (average size of dwelling 98 m2, CZK 15.4 thousand per m2 of floor space).
