Services - 4. quarter of 2025

“The all-year-round sales in services increased by 1.8% compared to the year 2024. None of individual sections of services reported a decrease and the highest contribution to the growth was recorded in professional, scientific and technical activities with a y-o-y sales increase by 3.0%,” Tomáš Harák, Head of the Trade, Services, and Environmental Statistics Data Support Unit of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says.

Quarter-on-quarter, seasonally adjusted sales in services¹⁾ increased in real terms by 1.0% in the Q4. The section of transportation and storage was the most successful; it reached an increase of sales by 1.9%.

In the year-on-year comparison, sales adjusted for calendar effects increased by 2.0%. The section of professional, scientific and technical activities, in which sales increased by 3.5%, contributed the most to the growth. Real estate activities is the only section, in which sales decreased (by 0.3%). 

Development in individual industries of services (CZ-NACE sections) was as follows:
-          Sales in transportation and storage increased by 1.4%. Most of all, sales increased in water transport (by 10.0%) and in air transport (by 8.3%). Sales also increased in the following: land transport and transport via pipelines (by 1.7%), postal and courier activities (by 0.8%), and warehousing and support activities for transportation (by 0.4%).

-          Sales in accommodation and food service activities increased by 1.6%. Sales in accommodation as well as in food and beverage service activities increased the same by 1.6%.

-          Sales in information and communication increased by 2.2%. They increased in the following: music and motion picture activities (by 9.8%), telecommunications (by 5.5%), information service activities (by 3.5%), and computer programming, consultancy and related activities (by 1.5%), which include, for example, computer programming activities, computer facilities management activities, and computer consultancy activities. On the other hand, sales decreased in publishing activities (by 2.0%) and in programming and broadcasting activities (by 8.5%).

-          Sales in real estate activities decreased by 0.3%, y-o-y.

-          In professional, scientific and technical activities²⁾ sales increased by 3.5%. The overall development of the section was the most influenced by architectural and engineering activities; technical testing and analysis, in which there was an increase by 5.9%. Higher sales, year-on-year, were also reported by other professional, scientific and technical activities (by 8.4%) and by legal and accounting activities (by 2.5%). Rather stagnating sales were recorded by advertising and market research (0.2%). The only economic activity, in which sales decreased, year-on-year, was activities of head offices; management consultancy activities (by 2.2%).

-          In administrative and support service activities, sales increased by 1.7%. The most considerable increase of sales occurred in office administrative, office support and other business support activities, namely by 7.4%. An increase of sales was also reported by rental and leasing activities (by 2.9%) and by services to buildings and landscape activities (by 2.4%). Travel agency, tour operator and other reservation service and related activities were also successful; sales increased there by 1.5%. On the other hand, a year-on-year decrease of sales was in security and investigation activities (by 6.5%) and in employment activities (by 5.3%).
