Recovery of sales in professional, scientific and technical activities

In the Q1 2015, seasonally adjusted sales in services increased, quarter-on-quarter, at constant prices by 1.3%. Working days adjusted sales increased by 2.0%, year-on-year, the same as non-adjusted. The growth of sales was contributed to by all economic activities except for transportation and storage and real estate activities.  

In the Q1 2015, seasonally adjusted sales in services1) increased at constant prices by 1.3%, quarter-on-quarter. Year-on-year, working days adjusted sales increased by 2.0%, the same as non-adjusted (in the Q1 2015 there was the same number of working days as in the Q1 2014). The highest influence on the overall growth of sales came from the development of information and communication. Sales in professional, scientific and technical activities increased for the first time since the Q2 2012.

Year-on-year development of seasonally non-adjusted sales in services broken down by CZ-NACE division:
-          sales in transportation and storage decreased by 0.4%. The biggest influence on the decrease came from the development in warehousing and support activities for transportation (drop by 3.8%).  Lower sales were recorded by air transport (-8.9%), and postal and courier activities (-3.2%). On the contrary, already for the ninth subsequent quarter, sales increased in land transport and transport via pipelines, which is the most important as for the volume (this time by 2.8%). Growth was reported also by water transport (+5.2%); 

-          sales in accommodation and food service activities increased by 2.1%. Sales increased both in accommodation (+4.7%) as well as in food and beverage service activities (+1.1%); 

-          sales in information and communication increased by 4.6%, which is the highest increase since the Q4 2008. The following contributed to the growth: telecommunications (+3.1%), computer programming, consultancy and related activities (+5.1%), which include, for example, computer programming activities, computer consultancy activities, and computer facilities management activities. Higher sales were recorded also by publishing activities (+6.4%) and information service activities (+8.7%), which include, for example, news agency activities, data processing, web portals, and hosting. Already for the fourth subsequent quarter, programming and broadcasting activities reached a double-digit growth (this time by 15.7%). On the contrary, lower sales were reported by music and motion picture activities (-11.0%);

-          sales in real estate activities dropped by 0.8%. Sales in buying and selling of own real estate and renting and operating of own or leased real estate decreased by 1.5%, while sales in real estate activities on a fee or contract basis increased by 0.9%;

-          sales in professional, scientific and technical activities2) for the first time since Q2 2012 increased (+2.8%). Increases were reported by all groups except for legal and accounting activities (-0.3%). Sales in architectural and engineering activities increased by 6.4%. Growth was recorded by other professional, scientific and technical activities (+2.8%) and advertising and market research (+2.7%);

-          sales in administrative and support service activities3) increased by 5.0%. The highest sales growth occurred in employment activities (+15.2%) and in services to buildings and landscape activities (+9.5%). Sales increased also in office administrative, office support and other business support activities (+6.2%), services, and security and investigation activities (+4.2%), and rental and leasing activities (+3.8%).  A decrease was recorded only by travel agency, tour operator and other reservation service and related activities (-9.9%).
