Sales growth in transportation, decrease of professional and technical activities

In the Q3 2014, seasonally adjusted sales in services decreased, quarter-on-quarter, at constant prices by 0.1%. Working days adjusted sales increased by 0.3%, year-on-year, non-adjusted by 0.9%. Growth of sales in transportation and storage had the biggest influence on the overall development.

In the Q3 2014, seasonally adjusted sales in services 1 ) decreased at constant prices by 0.1%, quarter-on-quarter. Year-on-year, working days adjusted sales increased by 0.3% (in the Q3 2014 there was one working day more than in the Q3 2013); non-adjusted by 0.9%. Growth was recorded in transportation and storage, information and communication, and administrative and support service activities.

Year-on-year development of seasonally non-adjusted sales in services broken down by CZ-NACE division:

- sales in transportation and storage increased by 2.3%. The growth was reported by warehousing and support activities for transportation (+4.0%), water transport (+2.2%), and land transport and transport via pipelines (+1.5%). After having been decreasing for three quarters, sales increased in air transport (+1.2%). Long-term decrease of postal and courier activities decelerated (drop by 0.1%);

- sales in accommodation and food service activities decreased by 0.4%. The decrease was influenced by development of sales in food and beverage service activities (drop by 2.7%), while in accommodation sales growth continued, this time by 4.1%;

- sales in information and communication increased by 2.2%. Growth was reported by programming and broadcasting activities (+16.3%), publishing activities (+9.7%), and information service activities (+6.3%), which include, for example, press agencies, web portals, and webhosting. Sales increase was recorded also by computer programming, consultancy and related activities (+1.8%), which include, for example, administration of computer equipment, programming or consultancy in the area of IT. On the contrary, telecommunications dropped (-0.5%) as well as music and motion picture activities (-0.7%);

- sales in real estate activities dropped by 1.5%. Sales in buying and selling of own real estate and renting and operating of own or leased real estate decreased by 0.9%, real estate activities on a fee or contract basis dropped by 3.2%;

- sales decrease in professional, scientific and technical activities 2 ) that started in the Q2 2012 continued (-1.7%). Sales for architectural and engineering activities decreased the most (-5.1%), sales for other professional, scientific and technical activities dropped by 2.9% as well as for legal and accounting activities (-2.3%), and for activities of head offices; management consultancy activities (-1.2%). Only advertising and market research reported growth for already two successive quarters (this time +5.5%);

- sales in administrative and support service activities 3 ) increased by 1.5%. A decrease was recorded only by travel agency, tour operator and other reservation service and related activities (-7.8%). The highest sales growth occurred at employment activities (+9.0%) and rental and leasing activities (+7.8%). Sales increased also in office administrative, office support and other business support activities (+4.6%), services to buildings and landscape activities (+3.4%), and security and investigation activities (+2.3%).
