Year-on-year growth of sales in services continued

In the Q2 2025, sales adjusted for calendar effects increased in real terms by 2.3%, year‑on-year (y-o-y). Seasonally adjusted sales increased by 0.2%, quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q).

“Sales in services in the Q2 2025 increased by 2.3%, year-on-year. The increase was the most contributed to by information and communication, in which there was an increase by 3.7%,” Tomáš Harák, Head of the Trade, Services, and Environmental Statistics Data Support Unit of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says.

Quarter-on-quarter, seasonally adjusted sales in services1) increased in real terms by 0.2%, in the Q2. The most significant increase was reported by the CZ-NACE section of accommodation and food service activities, namely by 1.4%.  

In the year-on-year comparison, sales adjusted for calendar effects increased by 2.3%. Except for stagnating administrative and support service activities, sales increased in all sections. Information and communication was the most successful one with the increase of sales by 3.7%.

Development in individual industries of services (CZ-NACE sections) was as follows:

-          Sales in transportation and storage increased by 2.5%. The highest growth of sales was in water transport (by 7.5%). Also the following recorded a sales growth: postal and courier activities (by 4.8%), warehousing and support activities for transportation (by 3.4%), and land transport and transport via pipelines (by 2.0%). On the other hand, sales in air transport decreased (by 2.0%).

-          Sales in accommodation and food service activities increased by 2.7%. Sales in food and beverage service activities increased by 3.1% and in accommodation by 0.6%.

-          Sales in information and communication increased by 3.7%. Development of sales in telecommunications (growth by 10.2%) contributed the most to the overall growth of sales. An increase of sales was also recorded by information service activities (by 5.1%) and computer programming, consultancy and related activities (by 2.0%), which include, for example, computer programming activities, computer facilities management activities, and computer consultancy activities. Higher sales were also reported by publishing activities (by 1.9%) and by music and motion picture activities (by 0.1%). On the other hand, sales decreased in programming and broadcasting activities (by 13.5%).

-          Sales in real estate activities increased, y-o-y, by 0.1%.

-          In professional, scientific and technical activities2) sales increased by 3.0%. From all industries this section comprises, the most successful ones were other professional, scientific and technical activities as well as activities of head offices; management consultancy activities. Both the industries increased the same by 8.4%. A sales increase was also recorded by legal and accounting activities (by 5.7%) and architectural and engineering activities; technical testing and analysis (by 1.8%). The only industry in this section that reported lower year-on-year sales was advertising and market research (by 7.3%).

-          In administrative and support service activities, sales stagnated. The highest increase of sales was recorded by office administrative, office support and other business support activities, namely by 6.2%. Sales also increased in rental and leasing activities (by 5.3%). As for other industries in this section, their sales decreased. The most significant sales decrease was in security and investigation activities (by 9.8%) and employment activities (by 8.5%). In services to buildings and landscape activities, sales decreased by 0.5% and in travel agency, tour operator and other reservation service and related activities by 0.4%.
