Sales in services grew by 2.6% in 2015

In the Q4 2015, seasonally adjusted sales in services decreased at constant prices by 0.3%, quarter-on-quarter. Working days adjusted sales increased by 1.7%, year-on-year, non-adjusted sales by 2.2%. The growth of sales was contributed to by all economic activities except for professional, scientific and technical activities.
For the entire year 2015, sales in services increased at constant prices by 2.6%, y-o-y.
In the Q4 2015, seasonally adjusted sales in services1) decreased at constant prices by 0.3%, quarter-on-quarter. Year-on-year, working days adjusted sales increased by 1.7%, non-adjusted sales by 2.2% (in the Q4 2015 there was 1 working day more than in the Q4 2014). The growth was reported by all economic activities of services except for professional, scientific and technical activities.
- sales in transportation and storage increased by 0.2%. The growth was owing to the development in land transport and transport via pipelines, which is the most important as for the volume and the sales of which grew already for the twelfth successive quarter (this time by 2.8%). On the contrary, lower sales were reported for warehousing and support activities for transportation (-3.0%). Drop of sales was recorded also by postal and courier activities (-1.5%), air transport (-1.0%), and water transport (-19.6%);
- sales in accommodation and food service activities increased by 4.5%. Sales increased in accommodation (+4.6%) as well as in food and beverage service activities (+4.5%);
- sales in real estate activities increased by 0.1%. Sales in real estate activities on a fee or contract basis increased by 4.7%, while sales in buying and selling of own real estate and renting and operating of own or leased real estate decreased by 1.4%;
- sales in professional, scientific and technical activities2) decreased by 0.8%. However, what decreased were only sales of the most important division as for the volume - architectural and engineering activities (-7.0%). Other divisions, on the contrary, reported growth. Sales for activities of head offices; management consultancy activities increased by 7.2% and for other professional, scientific and technical activities by 6.5%. Advertising and market research as well as legal and accounting activities increased the same (+2.0%);
- sales in administrative and support service activities3) increased by 5.3%. The same as in the previous quarter, growth was reported by all divisions except for travel agency, tour operator reservation service and related activities (-13.6%). A double-digit growth rate occurred at employment activities (+17.6%), marked sales growth was also in office administrative, office support and other business support activities (+9.4%). Sales for services to buildings and landscape activities increased by 4.9%, for security and investigation activities by 4.7%, and for rental and leasing activities by 3.7%.
In 2015, sales in services1) increased by 2.6%, year-on-year, at constant prices. All divisions of services contributed to the growth; the biggest influence on the overall growth came from information and communication.
Year-on-year development of seasonally non-adjusted sales in services broken down by CZ-NACE division:
- sales in transportation and storage stagnated, y-o-y. Growth was reported only by land transport and transport via pipelines (+3.9%). Having grown for three preceding years, sales decreased in warehousing and support activities for transportation (-4.6%). Lower sales were recorded also by postal and courier activities, which were declining for the fourth year already (this time -2.4%). Over the whole year 2015, also air transport and water transport decreased (-3.6% and -6.5%, respectively);
- sales in information and communication increased by 5.5%, which was contributed to by all divisions except for music and motion picture activities (drop by 3.7%). An increase was recorded for information service activities (+12.0%) and also for the volume most important activities in the area of computer programming, consultancy and related activities (+8.3%). Sales increased for programming and broadcasting activities (+7.4%) as well as for publishing activities (+3.0%). For already a third successive year, telecommunications reported growth (this time +2.6%);
- sales in real estate activities increased by 0.2%. The sales of more significant group in terms of volume - buying and selling of own real estate and in renting and operating of own or leased real estate dropped by 0.8% while sales of real estate activities on a fee or contract basis increased by 3.4%;
- sales in administrative and support service activities3) grew by 5.5%. Decrease was reported only by travel agency and tour operator (-7.9%), other divisions grew, among which the biggest growth was recorded in employment activities (+19.9%). Sales in office administrative, office support and other business support activities increased by 6.7%, sales in rental and leasing activities by 6.3%, sales in services to buildings and landscape activities by 6.1%, and sales of security and investigation activities by 3.8%.
