Sales growth in transport continued

In the Q3 2013, seasonally adjusted sales in services decreased, quarter-on-quarter, at constant prices by 0.6%. Non-adjusted sales dropped by 0.9%, year-on-year. Working days adjusted sales dropped by 2.6%, y-o-y. Growth was reported only by transport and storage and accommodation and food service activities.

In the Q3 2013, seasonally adjusted sales in services 1 ) decreased at constant prices by 0.6%, quarter-on-quarter. Year-on-year, working days adjusted sales decreased by 2.6% (in the Q3 2013, there were 3 working days more than in the Q3 2012); non-adjusted sales decreased by 0.9%. Sales growth was recorded by transportation and storage and by accommodation and food service activities.

Year-on-year development of seasonally non-adjusted sales in services broken down by CZ-NACE division:

- sales in transportation and storage increased by 3.1%. The growth was contributed to mainly by land transport and transport via pipelines, which is the most important as for its volume (growth by 5.0%) and also by warehousing and support activities for transportation, in which sales have been increasing already for the eighth consecutive quarter (this time by 3.0%). Growth was reported also by water transport (+3.9%). On the contrary, in air transport and postal and courier activities sales decrease continued (-1.2% and -8.4%, respectively);

- sales in accommodation and food service activities increased by 1.9%. In accommodation sales growth continued, this time by 2.7%. For the first time since the Q1 2008 sales for food and beverage service activities also recorded growth (+1.5%);

- sales in information and communication decreased by 0.8%. Telecommunications were the only CZ-NACE division, in which sales grew (+4.8%). On the contrary, a two-digit drop was recorded by publishing activities (-12.3%) and programming and broadcasting activities (-11.7%). Lower sales were reported also by music and motion picture activities (-9.5%) and information service activities (-2.9%), which include e.g. press agencies, web portals, and web hosting. Activities, which are the most important as for their volume, i.e. computer programming, consultancy and related activities decreased by 1.2%;

- sales in real estate activities dropped by 0.5%. Real estate activities on a fee or contract basis dropped by 6.5%, while sales in buying and selling of own real estate and renting and operating of own or leased real estate increased by 1.7%;

- sales in professional, scientific and technical activities 2 ) decreased by 9.2%. The deepest decrease, again, was recorded in advertising and market research (-17.3%), also sales for architectural and engineering activities dropped (-12.4%), as well as for other professional, scientific and technical activities (-12.0%). On the contrary, growth was reported by activities of head offices; management consultancy activities (+6.8);

- sales in administrative and support service activities 3 ) stagnated (growth by 0.1%). Growth was recorded in all divisions except for travel agency, tour operator and other reservation service and related activities (drop by 3.3%) and office administrative, office support and other business support activities (-0.1%). Activities of employment placement agencies recorded sales growth by 5.1%, security and investigation activities by 3.0%, rental and leasing activities by 2.0%, and services to buildings and landscape activities by 0.3%.
